Lightbulb Economy light to Shift light???

**Edit** **Disregard, I thought there was an actual bulb for the "economy light"**

What are the possibilities of turning the economy light to a proper shift light, looking totally stock???

Umm, it's not a light. It's a symbol that appears on the display. It's not dot-matrix to my knowledge so you can't change the design even if you change the function.

Damn! My bad. I thought I saw a picture of a seperate light. Must have been neutral or turn signal or something.

At least one of the aftermarket gear indicators includes a shift-light.

Check this site out if you really want a shift light. I have one for my car and it works very well in that you do not need to watch it. I doubt I will get one for this bike but if your set on one a progressive shift light like this works well.

Hope this helps.

Not mad. Thought it was funny, you questioning someone's use of a shift light.

A proper shift light will be bright enough to see in peripheral vision. It will be set to light up just before peak power. So you shift at peak power and have no wasted time/energy/power. Ideal for all out racing.

I will not be racing. I thought I needed to get rid of an idiotic eco light. Thought a shift light would be a fun thing to replace it with. Now I know the "light" is just a eco symbol that flashes on the LCD.

My new goal is to have someone reprogram my LCD to flash a frowny face when in eco mode!

lol I do understand the use of one, as far as racing I was 85% kidding with that comment. and 15% hopping you weren't staring down your entire ride waiting on a light to turn on so you can shift. haha

I like the frowny face idea though. I think I'd use this one More of the confused frowny. As if to say, wtf are you doing mate? Don't you know you're on a motorcycle!?!?

I get why you might rather have a shift light, but what makes the eco indicator so bad? Why is it "stupid?" My brother's car's shift light is tuned for economy and not performance, so they can be "stupid" too? It doesn't hurt anything, and adding a shift light while keeping the eco indicator just mean you have all the info for whatever situation you are in (aggressive vs. fuel efficient). You won't ALWAYS be racing, you know?

It is stupid because I didn't buy a sports bike to save the planet. Additionally, I know how to ride in a fuel efficient manner if the need arises. A shift light doesn't pull your attention from the road. That stupid eco indicator does seem to be distracting, the way it is always flashing on/off.

Its almost as distracting as those speedo numbers changing, maybe even more so! How can we disable the speedo numbers? I know how fast I'm going I don't need this stupid distraction on my bike.

Err, I didn't buy my bike to save the planet but I did buy it to save on gas. There is every reason to reduce our dependence on foreign oil even if you don't buy a bit of anthropogenic global warming theory. I also know how to ride in a fuel-efficient manner, but am I riding in the MOST fuel-efficient manner for the current conditions? Sometimes, I'd like to know. Every other time, I'll just ignore it.

The US is not actually dependant on foreign oil. Believe what you want.

Did you buy your bake to save gasoline itself, or to save money spent on fuel? Bikes cost more than cars in the long run.

Have you ridden a 300? The damn eco thing is annoying.

We may have enough to support our usage, but the world's supply of oil still affects our price directly. There's also every reason to conserve our resources until the world needs them, but not at the expense of our own prosperity. Also, don't confuse our natural gas reserves with our petroleum reserves. We have enormous natural gas resources but very few vehicles can use it.

I bought it to save money but you are forgetting that not everyone buys a bike in addition to a car. I wanted a new vehicle. My bike was $3,500 new and I didn't own a car for almost four years after buying the bike. It cost a fraction of the price of a new car and a fraction of the price of insuring one. It only costs a little more to maintain and I didn't have to finance and pay interest. If you aren't also paying for a car and insurance on a car, a bike can be CONSIDERABLY cheaper.

I'm confused. You had not ridden a 300 when you decided that you wanted to get rid of it. How is it annoying though? Does it beep? Blink in a way that's hard to ignore? From what I understand it's a little like complaining that your car radio has a station indicator display you don't use because you only listen to music from your phone. That's fine, I just wanted to know if there was some real reason to get rid of it.

Enough said. The rest is greed.

You are one of the FEW Americans that may have saved money long term by owning a bike. You are the exception.

I thought the eco feature would be dumb as an extra light before seeing it. Even though it's not an actual light, the Eco display has proven dumb and annoying. It is annoying because it is flashing all the time. Maybe I need to ride more aggresively so it doesn't come on.

Firstly, I like the digital clock a lot. It's nice when you like long rides, but your wife doesn't want you gone all day.

I think the eco display would bother people with OCD the most

Idk man, schizophrenics have trouble tuning out minor annoyances, like say, the sound a fan makes while they are having a conversation or small black icon while they are riding

People, you're overthinking this.

I can get rid of your annoying eco light / distracting speedo issue for about a buck:

Hey, it's helped people with all kinds of things in the past. Check engine lights, those dumb oil idiot lights.....
