09 250r Ignition coil/wire replacement. Aftermarket solutions?

I'm having trouble with the bike, and we think we're having Ignition coil problems on the right side. All I can find are OEM coils/wires all in one for upwards of 150 USD each. Is there an aftermarket solution anyone has found? or ones from another model that would plug N play?

Please link me solutions

hi, have you isolated problem to actual ignition coil itself?
As in swapped coils between sides and have problem move with coil to other side?

Most of times, it's wiring issues that cause ignition issues.

1. If it indeed is coil issue, you can use any variety of inductive coils. From pretty much any bike, or even auto coils such as Accel or MSD.

2. can convert to COP using CBR600RR coils. Be sure to get units of similar primary-impedance of stock coils 2.2-3.5 ohms. Or add ballast resistors. Want current draw around 0.5-0.6a. https://www.ninjette.org/forums/showthread.php?t=123425

3. I've got some pre-gen coils I can send you for cost of shipping.

I used ZX-6R CoPs on my EX500. I got 4 of them with the harness (enough to convert two bikes) for under $25 on eBay.

It didn't really seem to change performance at all, though I was able to open the plug gap up a bit with no issue. However, it simplifies things and removes the plug wires and the issues they were known to have.

Go with the CoPs set-up, much better in the short, and long run.

I did a write-up awhile ago
https://www.ninjette.org/forums/showthread.php?t=241339

Like @InvisiBill, I also run this set-up on both of my EX500s, and I did on my PreGen 250.

I didn't bother with installing anything extra, no load resistors, etc. Just be sure to get wiring harness with the coils.

FYI the Ninja 300 uses CoPs from the factory.

Depends upon set you get. Some people have had issues with too much current.
