Spiked Bar Ends

Is it just me.. or does this just seem like a hazardous idea?? I mean they look kind of neat but I would be kicking myself if I crashed and one of these ended up hitting me while my bike does cartwheels over itself.

I don't think they're a good idea either. I view it as tough guy bling more than anything. Would hate to get one to the torso during an accident.

On a side note - when I crashed and totaled my FZ6 the bar end jammed into my upper thigh really badly. It was a deep tissue bruise that went down to the bone. If I had these bar ends on at the time I probably would have bled out and maybe died.

Owch that sounds painful. I'd like to have a few things sticking out and even less things being spiky when I go down in a crash.

It was painful for like 2-3 weeks.

I've also seen those kits that replace your front cowling bolts with spikes too. Even seen spiked frame sliders, fork sliders too!

Some people must really be into spikes.

I had a black painted version of this installed to replace my bar ends from my buddy dropping the bike... they were cheap, off ebay.. Though I do agree, seems quite dangerous in a crash, Replaced them with shogun ones

I haven't heard of it happening. but if you went down, it's possible for that bar end to dig into the ground and have the bike pivot or spin around pretty fast which could be worse than just sliding. And those things are dangerous to pedestrians too. They look like they belong on chariot wheels.

All spikey things are dangerous and should only be installed on bike show trailer queens.

Including this beautiful brake and clutch lever set :

Of course, if your only riding consists of the 3 mile trudge to the local bike night at the Tastee Freeze, you might get away with stuff like this.

Up your way it would be similar to a "Dairy Queen" outlet (tell me they are still in business up there).

Dangerous for Children admiring our bikes...us too

I don't think that a reponsible mature motorcycle rider would have these. Kids are always admiring bikes and this thing could be right at eye level for them. VERY dangerous. Also, you could be working below these things on bike, stand up and put out an eye. NOT for me.

Wednesday night at Hooters, we saw a sport bike with spikes EVERYWHERE. Bar ends, along the fender, the levers had spikes, the brake pedal was spiked, even the mirrors and turn signals!

All I could think was "Sorry about your small penis...."

LOL, guessing the seat wasn't spiked. Maybe the drinks were.

Screw spikes. I plan to get a set of these:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...K%3AMEWAX%3AIT

The design looks like the little cover things on the frame and the color matches the fairings. The black paint is coming off my original bar ends so this is how I'll deal with it.

i had a set on mine but swapped over to bar end mirrors.. they werent as pointy as my spiked windscreen bolts which could actually break skin if you touched them with any pressure

Have you ever tried to aim your lean angle so that you picked up litter on the ground with the bar end?
