HID Upgrade??
Hey Fellow Ninja250 Owners,
Ive been thinkin about purchasing an HID conversion kit, possibly 6000k or 8000k. The ONLY thing that is stopping me from purchasing an HID kit, is hearing people talking about BLINDING others on the road. Anyone who HAS done this upgrade to your 250R, have you had any problems? if not, which do you prefer.. 6000k or 8000k? Thanks, please post pics if you can. |

A million threads on this here, search for HID, but a good start would be the DIY sticky at the top of the tech section that lists all common mods...

If you want to try them vleds is having 15% off HIDs and leds:
http://www.ninjette.org/forums/showthread.php?t=55297 I prefer 5000k (pure white)...but that is just me. 6000k is alright I like the blue tint sometimes. As alex said plenty of treads, I haven't used them on any of my vehicles. But I will be soon probably next week

yup, with a properly adjusted headlight (not difficult at all, 2 knobs, 1 for each axis), you don't make most people mad. You'll find people tend to move out of your way quicker, and some people flash you, and you flash them back, and they get it....

I love it when im riding at night on my 250 (using only the stock Low-beam Halogen)... and a cager going the opposite way flashes their brights at me. As "IF" i have my hi-beams even on.
My headlights are at the corrected specs too, so its NOT like they're pointing up into cagers faces! So yea, i think its just that motorcycles headlights have an "IT" factor and cagers think we have our hi-beams on while passing them! |

like was stated, two adjustment knobs for up/down/ and left/right.
to aim properly, I parked my car (whose headlights should have proper aiming already) in the garage and aimed the headlights at the back wall about 10-20ft away. I put a piece of masking tape to mark the top of the cutoff line of the left headlight on the wall. I then masked off, on the ground, the outline of the left front tire on the garage floor. next, I positioned the bike in the outline of the car tire on the floor and propped the bike up with a 2x4 under the sidestand to get it as vertical a possible. using the tape mark on the garage wall, start the bike and use the tape on the wall as a reference to position your bike's headlights using the 2 knobs on the headlight assembly. You may need to fine tune the aiming once you take the bike for some test rides. To fine tune, I use a car at a stoplight for reference. Your headlight cutoff should not shine above the trunk of a typical sedan, but be positioned right below that trunk line. An added note... everyone should check their headlight aiming on their bikes... even before I installed the HIDs, mine was (and a lot of others have found theirs to be off, too) pointed waaaay off to the right and very, very high. In other words, not even close, right off the showroom floor. |
