Finally got mine..er cbr that is

This is my first bike. Up until about a month ago I was determined to get the ninja then I saw the new CBR in black and I knew I had to have it. It might not be as fast as the ninja but I don't care. It's mine and I love it. I will continue to hang out on the ninjette forum though. The CBR forums just does not have the depth.

I'm not a fan of the CBR250 but it did get a BETTER review against the 2011 Ninja 250 in a magazine article I read. I like that the valve adjustment comes like around 12XXX miles or so.

BUTTTTTT..... the Ninja is sportier, badd ass looking and S-E-X-Y!

Congrats on the new ride though! Enjoy it!

I still don't understand why its been labelled a CBR...theres nothing CBR about it. Its clearly a baby VFR.

Well the folks over at Cycle World magazine think otherwise. In their April 2011- "250 Shootout!" article they sided with the CBR250. I was a little disappointed- they gave a few props to the Ninjette but it sounded as if they like the CBRs handeling and low RPMs when on the freeway as well as the maintenance period for a valve adjustment. What magazine did you read? I'd love to read the article.

theres more to it than just reading articles...you have to experience it for yourself to truly know what its like.
Handling wise theres not much of a difference and thats something that really depends on the rider, I have clip ons and rearsets so even that makes it a lot more different from a stock bike.
RPMs wise I found the thing redlines way to fast...its redlining when the Ninja is just starting to build up its power, I can assure you on the highway you'd much rather have the Ninja.

Congrats on the bike. I think the Ninjette looks better, but hey, that's just my opinion.

From what I have read, the two bikes are pretty much even in performance, with a slight nod going to the Ninja on top speed and acceleration. The handling, in regards to tossing it around, is apparently slightly sharper on your CBR.

I don't think you can go wrong with either bike, and I think from a beginner/commuter standpoint, the CBR is better, unless you just need to run 95 on the interstate. The Ninjette, with it's aftermarket support, is the better choice for trackday junkies and/or amateur racers. I also think the experienced rider crowd looking for an inexpensive commuter and weekend toy would choose the Ninjette.

Like I said though, you can't go wrong with either, and again congratulations on an excellent bike and the beginning of a great hobby.

Well in the article- they compared apples to apples or stock to stock. As stated earlier it depends on who's doing the riding and their preferences. I think I'm going to have to test ride this cbr to make my own judgements.

i read a few articles and watched some videos of comparing the 2 bikes before i got my ninja.. the slightly lower top end and acceleration pushed me towards the ninja.. also being a prior kawasaki owner and the aftermarket support for the ninja helped too they are a good looking bike.. cant wait to see what the aftermarket world brings to them and after guys have had them for a while and starting customizing them.

Nice bike, congrats. Did Honda give you a good deal and how long did you have to wait for delivery?

As far as deals go I think I am in line with what I have seen others report online. I paid 4500 OTD. Around here, I have heard of people paying 5200. Unfortunately, the dealers have the upper hand here. I didn't have to wait though as there were 3 of these bikes at the dealer 2 black and 1 red/silver. with respect to waiting..the ninja is about as hard to get as the CBR. When found used, they (ninja) are about as much as a new bike!! Maybe a few hundred less.
I get that the ninja is a faster bike but really I could care less. I want to ride it to work on my 10 minute commute, do some jaunts out to the local parks and occasionally take it into town. Freeway is not really necessary in my situation and frankly I would be more inclined to take the ranger than the bike for that.

To pick one over the other performance-wise is pointless. I think it comes down to ergonomics, style and maintenance. I thought hard about the CBR250R but just couldn't do it. The Ninja has so much more aftermarket support and looks meaner.

There were some really good points to the Honda though- I loved the instrumentation. It just felt so skinny and small.

Does anyone know what type of aftermarket mods this CBR can handle? That's what I dig about the Ninjette- soooo many aftermarket mods and farkles and so on. I guess time will tell.

That's just it- there aren't many ou there yet. Honda offers a handful of stuff but it's all real pricey (the seat cowl is over $200!). I think it'll be a few months before stuff starts coming out...

Well- then right now the CBR is a bike with "time will tell" factors indicating how well it can/cannot do.....

I have an 08 and even today I'm still playing around with mods and farkles- too much fun and many of the parts are pretty cheap these days

CBR I eny your instrumentation

Kawi I enjoy everything else!

I think we will soon see more 250 sport bikes from other japanese manufacturers (Suzuki & Yamaha). In a time when sales are low, these bikes continue to sell like crazy. Triumph is working on there own "Street Single" right now.

Congrats on the new bike... sad it wasn't a Ninjette but glad you are happy. My first bike was a CBR 929. Loved the speed, hated the handleing. To me CBRs are stiff rides. But hey, you really don't have a "CBR" do you. LOL & J/K? Just as long as you stay Kawasaki in heart...

I find them opposite. The ninja feels small to me because I don't fold up on it correctly despite it being "bigger". I fit well on the CBR which makes it feel bigger and roomier. They hit ergonomics on that bike perfectly. It really suits taller riders.

I looking to buy a ninja in two weeks. I like everything i have read about it. My friend just got the cbr and i have been riding it a good bit the last couple of weeks and i really do love the way it rides. I dont have much to compare it to the only other bike I have ridden is the suzuki gs500. The cbr handled great and it felt like it had decent power when i was on 50 mph roads. It did seem to red line pretty fast though. Im still hard pressed on the ninja and hope its about the same or better. Im hoping i can find someone in Atlanta that would be willing to let me try it out. Go ninja

Wow..Been away from this for awhile and did not realize people had been posting long after my last entry. In any case, I have been riding for about a month now and even went on a group ride with some ninjetters this past Sunday 8-14. I can tell you that the Ninja is a faster bike no doubt about it. My bike seemed to struggle to keep up at times while the ninja guys just seemed to rocket off with no problem. You really have to run it on the edge of the red line to get the speed. Don't get me wrong I love the bike. It is comfortable and I could ride it for hours (and did) and not experience a great deal of discomfort (i.e. a sore ass). You definitely feel the pick-up at lower speeds. This is a review from a rider with a month of experience so take it with a grain of salt
