Replacing headlights on 2006 250?

Just noticed my bulb is out and in need of replacement. I have searched but could not find a how to. Will I need to take off a fairing or is there an easier way? Link?

Thnx

You only need to take the fairing off if you like your hands. If you don't mind banging the crap out of them and taking 30 - 45 minutes to do what could be done in 15, leave them on.

what Jinx should be saying is if you have small hands and a second set of eyes, go for it. it's just a PITA. if you have normal/large hands, take off the fairing as it's a super PITA and potentially painful

The funny part is I've heard everyone say remove the fairings, but I never did. It took me maybe 5 minutes to replace my headlight bulb, and my hands only got a bit of dirt on them from the rubber grommet. I personally do not recommend removing the front fairing unless needed.

Maybe it's because in addition to have small hands these lights are identical to any 7'x6' H4 conversion. My MR2 has the same identical headlights in it and that made doing the process without seeing much very easy.

yeah It's not super hard, but it's just a pain since the guage cluster is right there and there's not a great line of sight. Plus, if the OP hasn't done it before, it might be tricky to do without taking off the fairings.

I changed the bulb with my big hands and all. I now have high and low beams!!!

I am gonna have to go back tomorrow when I have some daylight and put on the rubber grummet/seal that somehow slipped my mind and I just plugged her in.

Did not have to take off the fairing just reached up from under for the most part.

Instaled the Sylvania Silverstar on my sis 07 over the weekend, she loves it. Says she can see much much better at night and brights are very strong. Whell see how long they last...

Yeah I have read hundreds of threads about the Silverstars terribly short lifespan.. If that bulb blows in a short while, I would suggest the Sylvania Xtravision. I have used that bulb in all my bikes, and its a noticeable improvement. The color is a bit more blue than a standard bulb, but not HID 6000k blue, if you know what I mean. Good luck!

Thanks for tip! Are those bulbs the same price and can they be found in the same places or special order?

They are far from a special order item lol. Most of the walmarts in my local area carry that bulb, and I think they are pretty cheap, too..... about $10-15 per piece.

im guessing its about as easy on the older gen if you can squeeze your hands around and mentally visualize whats going on.

Work it in with an oil and filter change, let them get you a Sylvania, and ask about laying off the premium labor charge for two simple functions. You're a steady lifelong customer, they're making money anyway, use it.
