Area P *Pregen* Groupbuy... Anyone Interested?

I was talking with Kerry Bryant of Area P and trying to convince him to have another Ninjette GB for the new gens when the subject of a possible GB for the pregens came up.

So, is there any interest out there among the pregen owners? Final pricing will still need to worked out, but it will be around $300 for a full Area P exhaust system. I can tell you, this is a great deal. no other details at this time... just trying to see if it would be worth it to try and organize.

For more info on the product, check the AP website.
http://www.areapnolimits.com/product...Ninja-1988.php

and a user thread from ninjette, here...
http://www.ninjette.org/forums/showthread.php?t=13852&

If you're interested, post here so I can relay the info and pass on your interest to Kerry. No commitments, just gauging interest.

Wow Kelly, you are a good guy for helping the forum like this, and Kerry is a great asset to the business world. Kudos to the both of you and good luck with the GB.

I'd be interested. I have been thinking about putting in my budget for later this year to get the full system with the long quiet core muffler and the sport package (would total over $600 in the end for both kits).

Okay, I'm guessing, due to a lack of shown interest in this particular product, a GB is not in order? If so, I'll let Kerry know and I'll drop the GB idea entirely.

I would be interested but I read about it a little late. Can we scope a GB with 5-7 members?

FWIW, I just installed the Area P on my 09, and the quality is up there with the Akrapovic stuff I had on my old ZX7R. You won't be disappointed.

Jetting is not too difficult a project. But if you have a performance shop or dealer do it, I would imagine about 3 hours labor or so (plus the Jet Kit).

Yep - 5 minimum and we can probably come in around $300 (plus/minus) as K. Kim indicated. Truly a killer deal on this system.

Thank you for the compliment. Igor (Akrapovic) is a friend and one of our best customers in our Silent Sport Division. We definetly strive to meet or exceed his quality standards (and it's not easy ).

okay, without a doubt, the price of this offer is a bargain... I don't care who makes the product. Add the fact that happens to be one of the premier exhaust companies, plus their great customer service and follow up service, plus the fact that it's "made in the USA", plus the fact that we're talking about a full system priced at just a bit more than what you would pay for a slip on from a no name company that did no R&D on their product... I just don't get that pregen owners are not literally jumping on this offer.

What am I missing here???

Not sure either since I was planning on buying the long tube full system at some point this year. This group buy offer would shave off over $200. How is that not a steal? Plus I can tell you that having a 2-1 exhaust on the pre-gen is great as it helps give some extra low end grunt (when everything is running properly that is).

I currently have an old Yoshimura 2-1 exhaust on the bike that a previous owner installed. I need to replace it soon as there is an exhaust leak at the engine side due to years of corrosion. This seems to be the best (and virtually only full system as most just make slip-ons these days) to replace mine with and you just can't beat the price he is offering.

Jason,

call a couple of shops in your area and find out. each shop differs and will price the work accordingly.

are you not capable of doing the work yourself? ( I highly recommend going this route)

There are some great DIYs on ninjette that can help show you the way to accomplish installing an exhaust and rejetting.

Yeah I have seen some write ups about jetting your own bike I am just not sure I will be able to get it so that it runs properly without any sputtering and what not. My buddy works on motorcycles but not sure I trust him rejetting my bike. Probably just take it to a shop if I decide to go with this pipe. Tax refund money is itching to go towards this pipe.

I read an article on how to shimm the needle with some washers I believe in was in the 08+ ninja section is this the same thing we would have to do when we get this exhuast? I have torn my carbs out and cleaned them and the pics I saw on shimming your needle doesnt seem to bad as long as I can somone knows the right size washers and how many to put on.

Def interested in this exhaust refund check comes tomorrow or the day after.

if you can take the carbs out to clean them, you are defintely qualified to install a jet kit. Shimming will also work with this exhaust, but for maximum HP gain and adjustability, I would recommend a jet kit.
