Speedometer and Odometer errors.

Ive been looking at my odometer and speedometer and noticed that they arent quite right. odometer is about 5% fast and speedometer is somewhat off, havent been in a situation to test exactly how much though. noticed that it was indicating faster than the roadside "you are going ____ MPH" said i was. is this normal for the ninjette? if not how do i fix it?
Thanks!

The speedometer error is very common if not ubiquitous for ninjettes, as well as many other motorcycles. Not a good way to fix it I know of, save perhaps getting a front tire that's 5% smaller outer diameter, which I wouldn't necessarily recommend from a safety standpoint. There is some variation in how far off the speedo is, but I've yet to see someone say their speedometer is correct on a stock bike. My new gen is exactly 10% off in all the testing I've done.

No bloody idea on the odometer, never actually tested that one.

Oh ok. Well thats good to know. Yeah for the odometer i noted what it should read at the next destination sign (first sign...Daytona Beach-48. next sign...daytona beach-18). Then i looked at my odometer for individual mile markers. went about a mile and then half a tenth mile from mile marker to mile marker.

Most just determine how far off the speedometer is and add the fudge factor when it's needed. In most cases your actual speed is low so little danger of a ticket.

Maybe add a GPS of some sort. Plug it in when precision navigation matters, but everyday around town who cares?
