Sakura~ 2011 250r Pearl White/Ebony Progress Thread

I was just noticing how much stuff I've been doing to my bike since it's too cold to ride. I think I'm going to keep track of the changes, here. So let's start with day #1 2/17/2011:

Yes, they're Shoguns. Fixed it.

The white is a nice color. I was really looking for a used Kawasaki Green bike but when I saw the white SE in the showroom, I couldn't resist.

I also did the 3/4 throttle modification today while I was at it.

Do you feel that the throttle modification was worth it? I want to do it, but I am lazy and not sure if it makes a big differnce. Great looking bike btw! I love the white! Makes me wish I waited a year longer to buy a 250.

It wasn't hard at all to do. I did it without removing the bar end and I had all the necessary parts in the garage anyway. Well, I did have to go into the house for the super glue. It only took about of 10 minutes.

I can't say how it feels while riding because I haven't taken it out yet. What I can say is that I can go WOT with one twist of the throttle, which is huge!

I've done the ziptie mod on the throttle. It makes a HUGE difference while riding. It takes a little getting used to when blipping on downshifts and at low speeds like in driveways and parking lots. But it does make WOT much much easier to get to and theres less wrist fatigue from always having to twist so far

What brand rim stripes are those? I have the same bike as you! I recently ordered the same tank pad and I am thinking about doing the stripes too...

Yeah, it's a nice color!

As for the rim stripes, I bought them from elite-vinyl-designs on ebay. I ordered the 17" white reflective in 8mm size.

To apply them I did it like I would any vinyl application. Cleaned the rims, then sprayed a section with soapy water. With clean hands removed a strip of vinyl from the sheet and sprayed the back with soapy water. Slid the strip into place and held it in place with one hand and squeegeed the water out from under it with a finger wrapped in a terry towel. BTW, You overlap each strip about 1 centimeter.

So I went out to eat with some of my classmates last night and I took the bike since the weather was so nice. Interesting thing about the 250 though is that there isn't any room to bring unexpected items home with you.

For example, I didn't bring my backpack with me last night because I knew the four of us would be crowded in the booth and I wouldn't have a place to put it. I still ordered the 3 course meal and ended up with a dessert I wasn't even hungry for. No big deal, I'll just bring it home for the wife. So I shoved the peanut butter pie against the dash and the windshield and headed home. Of course I hit a bump and it slid loose so I had to grab it and hold it with my left hand... and still work the clutch:

So... today I ran to walmart and have prepared myself for future unforeseen item hauling.

6foot long cinch straps ($1.88 ea. at Walmart)

Stowable nylon backpack (about $5 at Walmart)

Everything nicely hidden away:

Pic of the LEDs in the gauge cluster:

And a new clock for commuting:

Just a cheap EL digital watch. I removed the band and used a zip tie fed through the posts. I love that it has the button to light up right on the face:

Fender chop and some decal removal. I bought a spare fender on ebay for $15, in case I want to go back to stock. Still waiting on the LED plate bolts but I went ahead and did some minor work today anyway.

Thanks! I had no Idea where Alton, IL. was. It's about 6 hours from here, as I live in North Eastern Illinois, just 10 miles shy of WI.

Good eye! Yeah $5 and there's a perpetual 20% off one item coupon in the back of Popular Science Magazine. It's also nice to not need any special spacers or anything for them.

The wife told me it would look better without the white sticker on the back, so I pulled them off. The only bad thing is that they left a ton of residue compared to the sides which left none. Just took a little extra work with some Goo Gone before I cleaned and waxed the tail.

I totally want an Ebony Sportisi hugger and Ebony seat cowl but I'm not going to buy them for myself. I think I'll wait for my bday and just ask for them then.

I ordered a cowl from Shinto a long time ago. Looks like I finally may be getting it. Should get here in a few weeks. Anyhow, I have a used black cowl I had bought from another member, cause I never thought my shinto order was going to get to me. So if all goes well, I'll have an extra one I need to sell. Let me know if you'd be interested.

I added some rearset adjusters and flush mount signals, among other things. Here are some pics of my flush mount install pictures:

These are the Bikelitez flush mounts and the quality of the kit is terrible. If you install them according to the directions they end up sitting below the surface of the fairings. The pictures show how I fixed that, which uses an additional $8 worth of stainless steel hardware. I also didn't use the included resistors, opting for a $9 electronic flasher relay instead. I'll get pics of my other mods later.

Here you can see the rearset adjusters, the Sportisi swing arm cover, and the flushmounts on the bike. Sorry she's a little dirty, haven't had a chance to clean her up yet. I'll have the rear hugger installed after I get it painted. I'm really thinking that I'll just go Ebony instead of Pearl White on it. IDK, gotta think about it...

I say go white, since your front fender is white. Might look funny with two different colored fenders.
