i do it all the time, i find the kick stand on the 250 much beefier than a super sport, but then again i usually bear hug the thing when i pick it up, so not all the weight is on it.

Cheers, any tips on what to grab hold of on the 250 to get it around?

I did it all the time on my D675. The easiest bike to do it one so far from my experiences have been 2007-2009 Honda CBR 600RRs. The kickstand on my D675 is made of aluminum and it never broke. The bolts for the kickstand mount are stamped 10.8 so the strength of these bolts are high.

If you want to make it easier (and not dig a divot into the pavement) put a piece of hard plastic under the kickstand (like a kickstand puck). That way you're not side loading the kickstand and it won't snap.
Cheers that's a good idea, don't want to wreck the patio

I have done it many many times in the last 19,000 miles on the KLR a few times with the XV, CB550, and most recently the ninja.

The KLR is 400 pounds and TALL never an issue, I also mount the KLR like a horse (whil it is on the stand) because it's so tall I can't swing a leg over.

I do it to wiggle out or into a tight spot in the garage, never all the way around - will have to give it a try

Ever since I moved into my new place(2 months ago) i spin the bike a full 270 every day. I tried in the past just to see if I could and I was never able to get it to balance. Once I needed to though I figured out the handle bars need to be turned to the right and not the left and then it was easy.

I'm going to say it adds a lot of stress to the joint and may waller it out over time if you to abrupt with transition the weight on and off but if you smooth you shouldn't see any problems for a long time. Just regularly check that bolt like you should anyways and you be safe.

Oh and I only hold the handle bars putting all the weight on the stand, it was the easiest way to do it in my opinion.

Keeping the rear tire closer to the ground while swinging the bike prevents the stand from folding aft, specially if you are not on flat surface.

The tip will dig into the surface.

Cheers, think I'm starting to get the hang of it, but I'll need to get a short plank or something to keep the patio from getting wrecked.

Turning the bars all the way right, left hand on the right bar, right hand on the Y shaped part of the frame, pull it up onto the stand, push the rear down a bit to balance it & it's easy to turn it.

Note to self, a full tank makes this considerably harder to do...
