GoPro Hero

Found one on Craigslist today that I can buy for 50 dollars. Is it worth it or should I pay 150 more for a 3?

If it's the first gen hero, skip it.

Yes it is the first one. Have you tried it? Were there known problems with them?

No problems really, just it's not gunna be the quality you really want. I have one and compared to the HD stuff, it's not up to par. But it will take a fair video non the less.

the 2 is all around better, but night time recording was its true advantage.

The 3 has terrible reviews on Amazon, but my friend has one and says the latest firmware seems to work pretty well except for one detail -- don't poke at it for a few seconds after powering it on, else it'll probably freeze / lock-up.

I have a 3 black with no issues. Just gotta get the firmware in there.

Note: a 3 Silver is basically the same as a 2. So always get a 2 used over a 3 silver if you can.

Dude, I have a Hero 3 black and I had issues up the ASS!!!

jerky playback, sometimes not recording

I deduced it to be that the hero 3 you need to use 32GB cards. The 64GB cards give it issues.

Im going to be trying a couple Replay XDs to see if they are more reliable.

My GoPro HD1 and GoPro HD2 are much more reliable than my GoPro Hero 3 black. Pretty annoyed with my Hero 3 right now

Did you properly install the firmware? You have to manually download and place it on the SD card in their own files.

Yep, always kept up with firmware updates.

Im pretty sure the issue is the memory cards. They don't like 64GB. What size memory card are you using Max and what formats are you recording at?

Do you like my videos? Most are filmed with my hero 1s. When uploading to youtube the difference between them is negligible. The hardcore fail of the 1 is dark shots. If no dark shots then $50 is a damn fine deal

im buying one this weekend or next weekend as well. You can get them on CL with a bunch of mounting stuff (Gopro 2) for about $150-$200.

Ive done my research and unless you want the 3 really bad, its go big or go home. Meaning get the black edition. The Silver and White edition are basically like the 2 except improved under water picture. As well as built in wifi. And smaller and cooler.
