Needles and Spools

Some questions....

1. To shim the needles in a pre-gen, is it the same DIY as the new gens?
2. What are my options to get swing arm spools on the pre-gen?

I did try searching, but the shim needle thread I found pointed to the new gen DIY by kkim

I couldn't find anything for pre-gen spools that didn't required a drill or welding.

shimming is the same for the pregen as it is for the newgen. the exact steps are different, of course, but the method is the same. anything in particular?

no spools for the pregen... that's why they have a centerstand.

Thanks kkim for the shimming insight. Never been down that far in either of my 250's. If all goes well on the pregen, I will do the 2010. I am kinda waiting/wanting to ride out my warranty on that bike as well.

As far as the centerstand goes, it was removed when I bought it. So I have the choice of replacing the centerstand or install spools. I was leaning toward spools since I don’t have a centerstand for the other.
