as far as light smoke or dark smoke, think like this... If you get a Light smoke you can Always take it off to use some TINT on the backside to make it as dark as you wanna, likewise!

thats what i plan on doing. im still unsure of a ZG-DB, or a PUIG-DB! lol

I vote for ZG. It is a little more dramatic looking, and likely more effectuve.
It is also USA made (for real, not just owned in USA).

hmmm yea after looking more searches on PICs of the 2..... Im gonna go with the ZG DB light smoke!

That and yesterday when i called my favorite local store for motorcycle gear... Sportbiketrackgear.com

I was unhappy to hear that their stock of PUIG DB screens for the 250R are on BACKORDER, might take 2 weeks+

Screw that i wanna get one ASAP!
Ill call em Monday and find out how much, how Long will it take for them to Order me a ZG-DB in light smoke!!! Brain van told me they could order a ZG, if i really wanted. So once i get the 411, and i hear theyll sell me a ZG for like $70 (i hope they dont want like $85+) and only take 2 days ... ill just Keep an Eye on Ebay for a ZG-DB.

(like 3-4 weeks ago when i called on PUIG 250R DB, "Itll be here in 2 days... you want me to order that PUIG for ya dave?") I was undecided back then... so i told him "nah, im still looking into getting 1 or the other, lol"

good shop

I have ordered a few helmets from this same store. I wish i lived close to it like you. They seem really helpful and carry nice stuff. I have a light smoke ZG DB and i love it plenty dark for me.

I'll be using this 'very complicated' DIY tomorrow when I put my DB ZG on as well. It's dark smoke, it might be too dark but I doubt I'll really need to see through the windscreen that often. Either way, it'll look badass, pics to come!

KKim,

I just installed my ZG wind screen today and I'm having trouble with the two lower screws. It seems like there's nothing for the threads to catch on, like there's no nut for the screw to catch. Any ideas?

If you shine a light into the hole you should see brass-colored threads if the stupid rubber nut hasn't broken off. I discovered yesterday (after taking the fairing apart of course ) that 2 of the windshield screws are longer in order to thread into the bottom holes. The shorter ones wouldn't reach the thread for me.

You were right, the back part of the rubber nut thingy broke off. :-( I managed to salvage them but it was a pain in the butt. Thanks for your help.

Yea I just installed mine and had the same issue, I switched the upper wellnuts to the lower part. This requires you to take your fairings off and pull the gauge cluster out enough to put the well nuts back in. It was a real PITA...

You can get well nuts or a complete bolt set here:
http://www.bikebolts.com/kawasaki-pa...g-fastener-kit

Coupon for that place:
http://www.bikebolts.com/Forum_Produ..._Bolt_Kits.htm

I just took the bike for a ride today and the difference is amazing. The wind is directed up over my shoulders now, definitely worth it...

Thanks again for the DIY kkim

So I just ordered a light smoke DB for my red 250R... Only reason I went with light gray is I have already a dark smoke screen for my Icon helmet so I don't want to be completely blind when ducking on those long highway runs Will post pics when done

Really, only difference youll notice from a light vs dark smoke ZG-DB is if you Ride at Night!
During the day it wont matter. Unless you have a GPS unit mounted in such a way, the dark DB reflects too much glare at you or sumin'.

Yeah, the light gray would be considered dark in my book. I have the light gray, and like it, but it had to grow on me because I thought I was actually ordering LIGHT gray. It looks pretty good on the red.

They are... bottom ones are longer(not by much either...) than the bolts at the top of the windscreen

Grrr... bought my ZG double bubble windscreen (dark smoke) from motorcycle-superstore.com... I'm usually very pleased with them. Unfortunately, this time they didn't take any precautions when shipping and the windscreen arrived damaged.

I had ordered a new jacket at the same time and whoever packed it threw both the jacket and the windscreen in the same box with no packing material whatsoever.

I was looking forward to putting the windscreen on today and evaluating the results, but now... ... now, I'm processing a return.

I'll still go for a ride to feel better.

during the day it is easy to see through. with a clear helmet visor, it can be difficult at times to see though the dark screen at night... it depends on the amount of street light available.

thanks for this DIY KKim, i have a windscreen on the way and was wondering if i needed to take the dash mount out to install. wasnt sure if the 2 lower nuts holding screen in place would fall into fairing. apparently its a simple install, as long as my rubbers are in one piece

Nope, they are held in place by plastic bracket/tabs. IIRC, you only need to remove the bolts on the windsheild itself.

Hmm, I think I'm going to order the dark smoke one soon for my 2011 white ninjette. I think the contrast will look pretty awesome (hopefully).

IMO light smoke is actually dark smoke.... so dark smoke will really be DARK smoke. I have grown to like the light smoke, but was initially disappointed to see how dark it is. I say this just to underscore how dark dark will be, so if that is what you like, you will probably be happy with it. I think these windshields tend to look darker than they are because we really aren't looking through them, but down at them, so light doesn't come through it the same as if we were looking through them.

Thanks, I think you've convinced me to not get the dark smoke. I did notice the light smoke definitely has some dark tones, and I think that will look great with the white ninjette. The dark smoke might be a bit much dark and stick out more than I'd like it to.

Yeah, dark smoke is pretty much black. I would have gotten light smoke, but that was on backorder and I didn't want to wait, so I got dark smoke. I like it though, it works with my 2009 SE (green/black/white).

1-up with the Spiked Rear Swingarm-Spools!!!

Joe, how many times have you poked or cut yourself while Washing your Bike?

I cut my wrist twice, my thumb once, last year from all the washings! uch:
More than a year later I noticed this post. Sorry. I took a break from the forums for a while.

I havent been cut by the windshield spikes yet (knock on green). I love watching people walk up to them then pressing them and saying "Ouch, those are sharp" when they expected them not to be. I'm actually really surprised how sharp they are. The very tip of them dont hold paint. lol I think they look great next to the ZG DB. I tend to catch rather large bugs with the top two spikes. Recently, a non-biker gf of mine asked me what they for! I told her "to catch birds!"

I am a little concerned about the bar end spikes piercing me in a crash. I take them off from time to time. I noticed having an angle on the bar end can be a great thing on long rides to help me straighten my right wrist.

I have black spiked valve caps too

I have the dark smoke double bubble on mine. It might as well be spray painted black...it's dark alright! However, it looks super sexy on the black ninja!
