Ryan, I just ordered a set. Anything to give my legs a little less cramped position!

Has anyone had any problems with hitting the kickstand instead of the aformentioned pegs when getting low?

Yes it is a problem so beware. I was just talking with another member in another post about this. I'll find it later cause I gotta go to work now

jeffwessel was the one that crashed when he hit the sidestand while cornering. He had WC rearsets, though. Get a friend, lean the bike over and see what touches first. I would think the pegs would still be the first to touch on the left side, though.

Crap. I was afraid of that. I haven't scraped my feelers on my old pegs but I also wasn't riding hard because I didn't have proper pants. I fear I may end up off the side of a cliff. Should I just get off my bike more instead of leaning it? Everyone says you won't get that low on street, but not everyone gets to ride the Dragon once a week. I'm seriously concerned about getting the kickstand caught up and biting the asphalt, or worse...

Broom mentioned as well that the kickstand mount was the first to hit on the left, so he shaved it off on the trackbike (and implied that other 250 folks on the track were doing the same thing).

Yes, and he also warned that anyone using rearsets on the street should be very careful that they don't touch down on the stand.

I think Richard also mentioned the same thing awhile back, too, about the stand mount touching down on his race bike w/ rearsets. I believe the exhaust is the limiting factor on the right side.

Ok but these guys are using the whole aftermarket rearsets and not just the pegs that we found on eBay. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I know the rearsets bring the pegs back more, but the eBay pegs just get rid of the feelers. Would the kickstand still hit?

yep, you are correct, which is why I suggested grabbing a friend and leaning your bike over until either the pegs or stand touches. You want to know that now and not find out the hard way.

actually, any one of you who purchased these pegs should be able to find out... and it's something I would think each of you would like to know before it surprises you.

I tried leaning it with a friend to see and it is a bit close to tell but it looks like the peg would scrape first. I was a bit too scared for us to fully lean it to the point of touching. These aftermarket pegs are roughly the same length as the OEM pegs, only the OEM's offer the benefit of the feelers. Sorry if this isnt much help.

So with the oem pegs the feelers touch first, and after market pegs the stand touches first. Right?

Like I said, when we leaned the bike over it looks like the pegs would touch before the stand, but its really hard to tell unless you lean the bike all the way to the point of touching and I just wasn't comfortable enough to lean it down quite that far. It would actually take at leat 3 people to do this since you need at least 2 to hold the bike and lean it and one person to lay on the ground and see what would actually touch first since its a wierd angle. There were just two of us so I couldn't fully lay down to see and I wasn't cool with leaning the bike anymore than that, But I'm 90% sure the pegs would hit first....

These pegs are super slippery when wet. Everyone be extra careful when riding in the rain.

I've ridden in the rain with them a few times but haven't had any problems yet. Maybe I'm just lucky.

maybe. I'm a bit of a squid since I don't use boots. I'm not against the idea, I just haven't got around to buying a pair. Maybe that's the difference.

I think you are going to be pleased with your purchase, Matt. Have you thought about the GP Shift modification?

Is that where the shifting is reversed? I don't really think I want to go that far. I've sunk enough into this freakin' bike as it is, lol. Thanks for the suggestion, tho. I need to start working on upgrading my gear.

Quick question: Did anyone have to adjust their brake and shifter levers like with the Buell pegs? Just wondering what to expect when they come in.

Time to get a new bf, or pegs. Whichever is cheaper.

Do you mean they took a while to get used to the hard feeling as opposed to the soft rubber or is the length different too?

Just the soft to hard transition. They seem to be close to the same length.

That wont do any good, The suspension will be compressed in a real corner. And just think when its a bumpy corner......

"i told you to wear the jacket" now its just a joke
