You might still be able to do it...is it painted on the front, or the rear side?
If its the rear side, it will still work.

Have a question on this and didn't want to necro-bump the other thread I saw with this same info.

I saw in that other thread about wiring the LED's separately to avoid possibly frying the bike's wiring harness if something goes wrong. Would wiring in a fuse between the LED's and any wire you tap into protect the bike's wiring or no? Simply because I am worried about someone possibly walking over and playing with stuff, finding the switch to turn them on, then leaving them on and draining the battery.

Yes, you can fuse it and tap it into existing wiring.

Just make sure the fuse is in the line going to the LEDs, AFTER the tap.

You dont have to worry about the LEDs themselves drawing too much amperage...most of them draw less than a single amp. But LEDs usually come with really light guage wires attached to them, and its really easy for the insulation to get broken or suffer from abrasion. So you want the fuse as close to where you tap in as possible. That way if it does short, it shorts after the fuse, and not before it.

I'm definitely interested in this thread, as I'm doing her's in red/fuschia testing out my 4 test strips. Don't have nearly as many LED's as you, only 40 tops, but I only bought them to try and find the best placement for max light diffusion and coverage through the fairing side vents. Then I'll probably get more to increase brightness. Any good placement recommendations? Also let me know how good those work, especially if you got 400 LED's for only $20!

Edit: How long would a set of say ~200 LED's take to drain the battery if they did get left on? I'm clueless about most electronics, but I can wire things to other things with usually no problem, so I don't know much about how much it takes to drain a battery, except incandescents in cars ... stuck in a bad bad part of town...

These are the ones I got

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...#ht_3841wt_905

There really bright, and much more durable then the slim strips out there (I used them before on the bike and they broke

I'll take pics tomorrow if I remember, I had a bunch on my GoPro but I deleted them

And take your airbox out great place for LEDs

And I have no idea about if you left them on, but I know they dont draw much current, also with all the LED's it would be hard to not know they were on

Got me some green for my bike, and red for hers, 15 sets of 24 for each, just under $50
Now to wait for them to ship, then install directly to battery. I just found someone who posted they left theirs on for 48 hours (accidentally) and bike started no problem. Pics to come whenever I get them for sure, though it'll be close to a month I'm guessing.

MOAR PICS.

Im interested in the glow effect, researched it in Cali a few years back for a car.
I believe their legal as long as they dont flash/strobe/etc and the BULBS themselves are not visible to the eye.
Hence the term underGLOW, not underBULB.
And usually a good idea to steer clear of red/blue colors or cops will hate you.

Nice results.
Seeing your bike I've got inspired and bought 5 LED bars in ebay. I will mount in amber color. Let's see the result as soon as possible.

Some answers:
- Where did you fixed that led bars?
- How are you switch button?

I'll have to take a pic of the switch but its in the plastic caps on the side

As for the strips I put them everywhere! Just zip tied them to the frame and hope they didnt get in the way lol When I take her back apart to tune the carbs some more I will take pictures

As a note: When you do put the LEDs in make sure when they are on you cant see the LED its self, its distracting and doesnt look good. Ask me how I know!

I'm thinking in use 5 bars:
2 bigger, one in each side.
3 little, one in the front and 2 over the seat.

My major concern is fix all the bars without need replug when need to remove the fairing.

Yay, first 5 strings of the red that I ordered came in today. Hoping to be able to tackle the first fairing sometime soon. Family coming up this week, so I'm not sure when, but I hope to have it done and waiting for the next set to come in.

I was interesting in running some LEDs on mine, but I can't get a solid answer from the law enforcement in my town whether or not-exposed/non-flashing red LED would be legal. From what I understand, there isn't a direct law that says I can't have them, but they could be consider a distraction and thus ticket-able. No idea so I'll just play it safe.

Either way, looks really nice!

i would think anything red or blue especiaslly easily viewable from the front or even rear would be illegal since it would resemble the lights on a cop car ?? anything just wire them up to a switch so you can turn them on and off whenever.

I always switch my glows, bikes or cars. Don't know if it's illegal? Then make it so you can turn them on/off whenever you want. Red going on the white bike and green going on the blue bike. 14 stings each, still only the 5 in so far, but my family is still in town so I won't be doing much for a little while.

If it's illegal, they'd need to be off all the time anyways; thus, defeating the purpose of spending my time and money haha.

Now I know for sure that would be illegal in any state with red lights haha. No blue/red flashing lights allowed on non-emergency vehicles.

Maybe not. A brake light modulator isn't illegal so long as it only blinks for a short time when the brake is applied. Wiring in the underglow might be overkill, but as long as they aren't constantly flashing you might be ok-ish. ish is the important emphasis here

Alrighty! The white bike with red LEDs is done, I'll take pics tonight. Now I get to do the blue bike with the green LEDs. At least I now know where everything goes and how it gets wired from the white bike experience. Although I think I ran out of zip ties..

I couldn't wait for tonight to take them, so i just sat it in the garage and closed the doors.

Being interested in volcanoes since an early age I actually was pleasantly surprised the way the light wants to explode out between the seat/tank/fairing cracks, kinda the same way magma splits and cools under water..
