Projektd D Fender Eliminator (Installed w/Pics)
So after researching the fender eliminator ordeal I have settled and just ordered a Projektd D fender eliminator, It looks like a UK company. I will have to take pics once it arrives and I install it. The reasons I got this one over the Competition Werkes one and all the others are:
1. Main reason it mounts using the stock bolts and I get to keep my stock turnsignals and plate light. I actually like the look of the stock turnsignals and the police like the plate light which makes my life easier. 2. On my SV 650 I had a Competition werkes one installed, I liked it fine, it was made great and the material was nice but the bottom of the stock bike had to be cut and i didn't like that at all. It cut down on my storage space dramatically and with the ninjette there isn't much storage to loose as it is. I also could have just hacked up the stock plate hanger but decided against it as if I ever sell the bike which is doubtful for a long while I can throw the stocker back on there. So far this will be my second mod..the first I had a werkes slip on installed by dealership before i took delivery of the bike. Next up as time and money allows(i got to ebay about $900 retail worth of paintball equipment) are: 1. Braided brake lines 2. Double bubble windscreen.(still researching what one I want) 3. Rear Hugger(Still Researching) 4. De-Ninja Sticker bike, and de-reflector front when i put the fender eliminator on. ALL FREE. 5. Clip ons, I hate the stock ones. 6. Prob a new GPS and GPS Mount, projekt D has a nice mount for $69 which I believe will work with my current GPS that I cannot find a moto mount for. It also looks like it mounts right in the middle of the clipons...not sure how it will mesh with aftermarket clipons so that will take a little researching. 7. Shorty Levers 8. Rear sets, I have seen a couple of pics of them snapping based on being a casting on the stock ones and I will feel better with cnc'd ones on there..I like the woodcraft ones but will explore all options, cheaper the better. http://projektd.com/product_info.php...e0138eac789610 Last futzed with by Dano; May 18th, 2010 at 07:05 PM. |

For the gps mount did you try searching for a RAM mount on gps.com?
Please let us know how the projekt d fender eliminator works out for ya and pics too. That is the only one i like and wondering if it's worth it.

Does it look like the Projektd D requires any cutting for fit or drilling for the license plate?

No cutting or drilling required, it mounts to the undertail using the same holes as the stock fender. They include new bolts, you have a couple of options when mounting the plate depending on if you want to keep the stock plate light and turnsignals.. If you want PM me and I will email you the .pdf instructions file.

They actually tried to deliver it friday but noone was home needed signature, thru USPS. So From order to delivery from tiawaan in less than 8 Days freaking unbelievable, what a great company, even got email responses in less than 24 hrs when I had a question, here's hoping their product is as great as their customer service/delivery.

It all depends on the size of the package being shipped and its declared content.

Installed with Pics
Sorry I did not do a DIY on this, I have limited time due to a 3 1/2 yr old and a 1 1/2 yr old so my install time is limited..It took me appx 1hr to install this, and following the instructions (lol). Ok the instructions seem good when first reading them but my recommendation is that you have to take all the back plastic off and the seat to access the connections for the turn signals and to actually make it easier to fit the piece. Install was easy for me but I do have alot of bike experience, to a newbie I would recommend having a experienced friend there to assist. It is not all that difficult but better safe than sorry. Here are some pics I took from the install. Sorry in advance if they are large I took with my blackberry and I wanted you to see them good.

It looks really good. Think I might get this one as well. I have the same concerns as you. I don't want to mess or cut the stock one either. Where did you buy yours from? Can I get a link?
Thanks |

http://projektd.com/product_info.php...e0138eac789610 Shipping is superfast from taiwaan. The kit fit nice and used all the stock parts, turnsignals, plate light ect. Only thing stock you have left over is the 4 bolts and that stock boat tail. You lose the bungee hooks but as this is a metal item you can hook bungiees to it. |

$102.10 seems a bit expensive. I'm actually getting ready to go down stairs and mess with me tail. I think I like this design the most of the non home made type. So I will attempt the home made version.
Hopefully Ill have some successful pics soon! |

I thought about just hacking off the tail end but I really wanted to keep the stocker for resale in case i ever decide to sell and I also like the full metal aspect of the new one. I have nothing but good to say for it, well made and great service.

I finally received my Projektd Fender Eliminator. It was a pain is the butt to install. I didn't realize how much of the bike had to be taken apart to be able to access everything. I had to remove the seat, the side black plastics, and the back side fairings, just to be able to access the stock wiring for the turn signals. But once it was all said it done, I was super happy with the results. I got a bright white led for my license plate light and I'm waiting on some led turn bulbs to come in also. I think it will look really good in the end. Here's some pics so far...

So, I ordered a Projekt D fender eliminator. Well, I got a confirmation email and they have my billing and shipping addressed backwards. They don't have a contact number and I've read they don't reply to emails. I don't know what to do - I guess just wait and see...supposed to ship out Monday.

Damn they ship fast for a product that came from Taiwan & was shipped to me in TX. I ordered it last Monday 3/21/11 and it was here Friday 3/25/11. I was gone all weekend, so I can't wait to get home today and install it. I'll do a full DIY write up too.

Ok, so I got my ProjektD fender eliminator in last week and decided to put it in last night. I just want to say that the so called "directions" are a joke and I pretty much had to figure out the whole process by myself and a buddy. It took us about an hour to install once we got the hang of it and where everything was supposed to go and what needed to get taken off and whatnot.
The bike looks so much better without the stock fender, and this is a really nice kit. You get to reuse the stock turn signals and license plate light as well, which a lot of kits don't allow you to do. Also comes with another bracket just in case you buy different turn signals or an all in one tail light. I was going to do a DIY but once I started seeing that the directions were very bad I decided to concentrate on just getting the thing on before it got dark. Looks awesome thought, and was work the $100 IMO. Will post pics shortly. |

Did you all have to bend yours? I have mine installed and there is a huge gap between the light and the fairing, it looks horrible. I think I'm going to have to take the whole thing apart again, bend the bracket and reassemble the whole thing. Hopefully, I can eliminate the whole gap but I'm skeptical.

Thank you guys, these pictures help me a lot. I wish to take a Projekt D fender eliminator but havent any reference.
Glock_19, maybe yours could be flatted in the shipment. Put it in a table corner and turn with your hands. That could help.

Mine fit pretty good as well when I did my install, although one side does rub against the rear fairing a little bit more than the other side. Those pictures look pretty bad. I would send a copy of them to projekt D and see if they can send you a replacement. I wouldn't risk trying to bend it myself and possibly mess it up more. Just my

Does the Projekt D kit require the use of the stock plate light? Or can you eliminate that part as well and just use LED bolts?

No, you dont need to use the original platelights.
In the kit are 2 plateholders, 1 are that in the pictures, using original plate light and turn signals. The other are a model to use with rearlight with integrated turn signals and without plate lights or lightbolts.

After seeing this thread I ordered a kit a few weeks ago and here it is installed. I had to bend it a little to fit, and I may remove it to bend a little more just to perfect it. Overall it went rather well and I'm very happy with the result! |
