Ninja 650R Roundabout Lowside

Link to original page on YouTube.

In the slow motion cut at the end of the vid, it looks like he looses it directly after going over the crack in the road. There's also a small white-ish patch on the road too. Could be oil.

He doesn't say much in his vid description, but there is one hint:

Quote:
very light rain started to fall.
So it started raining during his ride. If it hadn't rained for days prior, the road surface could be very slippy. I definitely wouldn't take a roundabout like that at 30mph if it had only just started raining after days of dry weather.
(shut-up rojo - I know you could take it at 60mph, in the rain after a drought :P )

The only other thing I can think of, is he may have been stiff on the bars or jerky on the throttle.

Looking at the ground it looks like they used the oily asphalt that's slick even when dry.

Ouch. When it slipped, he went down fast! In a split second. No time to react at all. His body position....did it seem like he was counter-leaning into the turn? Leaning the bike, but staying upright?

^ I think so too. The bike was quite leaned over for what looked like a shallow turn.

Roundabouts are the most dangerous things on the road for motorcyclists wet or dry.
A combination of oil and scrubbed off rubber from the centre of the road to the outside only the very inside tends to stay free of crap. To use it you have to cross over the dangerous part so take it easy on roundabouts especially in the wet.

Damn, that sucks. I do try to avoid circles when i can just because no one knows how to properly navigate them.

Steve
I'll trade you one of my intersections for one of your roundabouts
