Question Front vs Rear Turn Signals

So I have a question about the turn signals on our bikes, are the front and rear signals able to be used interchangeably? I know the front uses a bracket and the rear goes right into the fender, but are they the same? The reason I ask is because I bought a pair of signals from a guy off ebay and he said both signals are the same. The ones I purchased look like they are the rear set. Can someone help me out with this? Thanks!

The lenses and housings are left or right depending on the screw location, all four corners are designed so that the screw enters from the bottom. The front left and rear right assemblies are the same except for the mounting plates, as are the front right and left rear. The rubber part interchanges for all.

According to Kawasaki the front will swap left to right, same for the rear.

They list a different part numbers for the front and rear, not left to right.

I don't remember there being that much difference, but it's been awhile since I've had OEM turn signals.

Also on the last years of the PreGen they used a small assembly.

Whoops!

The OP didn't mention year, I went with what mine is which is 2006-7. Previous years have a radically different signal assembly.

No worries, I've made the same mistake a few times myself, I blame Kawasaki for changing.

Thanks a lot for the information guys! I was confused as to how the rear signals would fit into the front mounting brackets, but it looks like it just screws out of the rubber piece that goes into the fender. That diagram helps a lot. Also I have an '05 Ninja so hopefully that parts diagram applies to my bike?

There are 5 different suffixes (F15-F19) for the 2005. I'm not sure which yours is or what the difference between them is.

Thanks for the link Bill. When I enter in my VIN number on the Kawasaki website it takes me to the same diagram. So I'm thinking I should be good then.
