Quick Flick Fun and Off Race Line on the R6

Did a track day on the R6 last weekend. For a few laps, I tried to ride it like a 250 lol.... and quick flick it into the corners. I also was trying to get used to riding "off the race line". Wide corners and late entries. Also, the telemetry is off. Not sure, but my buddy bobby has the start finish line way off. But the red dot is pretty close to the track position.

FYI, I am the rider in front, blue R6, black leathers and red/white helmet. Enjoy the video.

Looking good Chris!

Putnam looks like the sweepers would be approaching the high end of what's fun on the 250.

For comparison, how's the R6 stand up to the 250 in the back and forth flicky stuff? I know the R6 is going to be better composed than the 250 in fast sweepers, but is it more flick-able than the 250? The R6 also has a reputation of being the most flick-able 600. Just curious because that topic always comes up in other discussions.

For flickability, NO, 250 wins hands down. By the end of a 25 minute session the chicane takes some real muscle to flick over. BUT.... there is a catch. If your OFF the gas on the R6 it feels nearly the same as the 250. When your ON the gas then no. The power will fight your flick.

I REALLY wanted to get to Putnam for this past track day but the race bike is still in pieces. I need to get off my rear and get it back together

Well the bike is on stands and is a bare frame so it would be a mad dash to get it together. That and I assistant coach my daughters travel soccer team so my weekends have been REALLY full. Maybe I will take the ninjette if I don't have a game.

switching back and forth between the line you wanted to take and the edge of the track so you could practice entering wide and apexing late??

I find myself kinda looking back and forth at times when i'm trying to late apex so I'm at the middle of the road as little as possible.

I've thought about taking my bike there one day… Is that the only place you know of in Indy for racing?

Plausible maybe, normally if my head is turned that far, I already have chosen a line and am ready to commit. There were a few people that went off track in front of me. I wonder if that is what has my attention.

No I don't, sorry. I am currently trying to dig up all the orgs and links to tracks. Not sure why this info is so hard to get!?!?!!

Plenty of tracks in the midwest - but Putnam is the only one I know if in IN. The rest of them require a few hours drive.

How's Nelson Ledges? That's where my buddy often rides because it's cheap and close.
