Oil in my airbox

I have oil leaking from the air box on my 2009 ninja 250. Could the cause of this be because I over filled the oil?

Welcome to the forum! Spend some time and create an introduction thread and tell us about yourself and bike!

Cause for oil in the airbox:

1. overfilling the crankcase.
2. you lowsided your bike or tipped it over.
3. you overoiled your stock air filter.

The airbox drain is located on the left side just above the front sprocket. It's there for a reason since the bike is leaned over on the kickstand side and oil settles to that side.

Thank you, I will do that. But can this be harmful to my bike?

Overfilling the crankcase is overtime. Just drain some out and you'll be good. Also, drain the airbox too and wring out the the excess oil on the air filter. Make sure you are checking the oil height with the bike standing upright and not on it's kickstand. Bike has to be perpendicular to the ground to get an accurate reading on the sight glass. If you started the bike and just turned it off, wait a few minutes for the oil to setting back down into the crankcase and measure. Otherwise you will just end up overfilling again.

There's a tube hooked up to the airbox drain right? The tube is manually plugged at the end, is that normal? (Used bike.)

you can get some oil there if you are doing wheelies as well
