Picked up of eBay a set of Kawasaki ZRX1200 lowered foot pegs Zrx 1200, for $20.00 USD

They arrived today, and they are installed. They not only are lower, but also moved to the back a little. Installation was easy, no modifications needed.

My initial thoughts: I like them, I have a 34" inseam, so I was a bit cramped, after sitting on it with the lower pegs installed, not so much now. I will have to adjust the shift, and brake, but I already knew that.

Ride report coming soon, along with installed pictures.

Flame is mostly done!

She still needs a countershaft sprocket and rear brake pads, but those are easy. The graphics package, too. Now to get her inspected and plated.

Ride on,

J~

Maybe look the same, but I doubt they are. Yours is galfer, right? Mine is from S3 performance in Australia. Also have a matching rear rotor. We'll see how it goes.

Nope,I got mine from Australia, thru eBay, and I'm going to order the matching rear soon enough.

I can say after 6k miles it's doing just fine .

Yeah it's on my short list, along with a set titanium rotor bolts, for front and rear.

I was going to go with the EBC full floating front rotor, but the Aussie wave was a lot cheaper.

I have an EBC full floating front rotor in my shop, but I'm saving that for my 91 EX500.

Yup same part # as the EX, this is the one I got for my EX, and it does fit the PreGen, because it mocked it up then decided to get the wave, and save it for the EX.

Okay ride report time:

I love them, now my legs rest inside the indents on the tank, as before with the OEM, which use to way above that indent.

As you can see in the pictures, they sit lower, and towards the rear.

Yoshimura Fender Eliminator Kit!

Before and after pics attached? Maybe? First post so not sure?

I had quite a bit of trouble removing the right turn signal. That single screw would not budge! I managed to remove the entire signal assembly, and with the help of my neighbor we freed the beast with two pair of Vise Grips.

On top of the dampers I ordered from the local Kawasaki dealership, looks like I'm going to need some new turn signal screws, part #224AB0614 methinks?

Go!

Go!
Looks awesome, and tidy.

As far as the screws goes, they should just be metric, so find a hardware store that carries metric, like ACE, or TRUE VALUE HARDWARE, they seems to have a large selection of metric fasteners, even stainless steel too. Bring the old ones with you, of the parts, and just match them up, a lot cheaper than OEM.

Cleaned and lubed my chain myself for the first time. I had the dealer do it the last two times. I feel so proud of myself. Although, now that I did it, I can tell the dealer probably never cleaned the chain, just lubed it.

Got new wheel bearings in, brake rotors on both wheels, and tires mounted/balanced. Also used tire shine (very cautiously with only one finger) on the sidewalls and only the sidewalls. Looks pretty decent now.

Tomorrow is final assembly before riding!!! Going to install my pressure actuated rear brake switch, get the wheels on finally, and swap out a new (used) undertail that has all the proper flaps to keep the intake dry. I think I'm ditching the CBR hugger for ease of everything down there, now I need an undertail that hasn't been hacked up to allow a hugger so I'm not sucking in water at every puddle. ughhh rework sucksss

In don't have Ti rotor bolts. Not worth the expense IMHO.

They look even better on the bike runs and rides. Definitely don't drill your slides. I repeat, don't drill your slides. I went back and retested somthing I tried and plugged a few years ago. I now have new plugs of JB weld in those #70 (or whatever size it is) holes. Soupy. But she rides great once you get off the line. Been on the moto-man-light break in method. Today's ride was lots of 4-7k roll ons with engine decel in between.

Issues I'm having: temp gauge is no bueno and slides have since been plugged off.

Did an oil change already. Got some glitter. Will do a second one soon. Oil is cheap during break in with new rings.

How about titanium rotor bolts for about $55 USD, does that help?

And drill what slides?

Rode it!

Jetting is off. Way off. Between adding newgen runners to the intake, my carb rebuild, and the fact that I have better compression now, she's real lean at the bottom to the point where the stumble is hugggge and it hangs after a revv, fat in the mid range, and slow up top. Noisy all over, but doesn't run the tach to redline like she used to.

Did lots of rolling on and engine braking to help seat the rings, but I also did that yesterday at 8k and under, so today I had a little fun and did that at higher RPM's, up to about 11k.

Brakes feel good. Not bedded yet. Wet outside so I wasn't pushing that.

@Ghostt, the slides in the carburetors, the ones attached to the diaphragms.

Also, holy pricetag, batman! I got a set of 6 used rotor bolts in great condition for $11 shipped of fleabay. 55 for Ti??? That really saves you what, 6 oz or something? Not worth it.

@choneofakind

Yeah, drilling the slides in a no-no, always!

As far as the titanium rotor bolts go, it's a want-to item, not a have-to, I just like titanium or stainless.

Did you rebuild and service the calipers? Bedding in the pads is critical, I generally like about 200 miles or so.

@choneofakind

Cleaned the visible surfaces inside the caliper and cleaned/greased the slider pins. No rebuild because the pads are wearing evenly and the same on both sides. No need to mess with something that ain't broke. Did put on a ninja 650 master cylinder up front and put a pressure switch for the rear brake light activation. Flushed and bled both brakes completely with plain old DOT4.

My pads are slowly making a full sweep on the rotors. Will give it time. So far, lever feel is good.

Pulling rotors off the FZ1 wheels to get ready for powder coating and as usual a bolt on the rear strips.

Even after major heat I had to Dremel like a 1/4" slot and drill it through then use my wedge from the wheel bearing remover to get this B out.

Glad you got it out tom, let us know how the powder goes. My ninja wheels were the first thing I've ever had coated. Now I'm hooked. Powder coat all the things!!!!

Sat out in the parking lot of the shop and installed the correct clutch cable.

Check your rear wheel alignment based on that sprocket wear.

Thanks. Chain and sprocket are stock, will need to be replaced soon. But for now will tighten the chain and make sure that the alignment is straight.

Replaced a damper and a rear turn signal screw. I bought some genuine Kawasaki parts, but decided to sit on those and instead use some hardware from the local ACE.

changed the rear tire on my new gen the old fashioned way. Went pretty well. I had made some rim savers out of a piece of rubber tubing i had laying around but my lack of patience or be it my desire to just get the job done started taking over so i may or may not have a few marks in thee ol rim..... oh well, at least $30 in my pocket by doing it myself.

Yay for me
