Got my new seat cowl in and tried an idea for darkening my ugly white gauge faces. I like the results!

It's hard to tell...what'd you do? I'm putting green LEDs in my dash. I had to order another one. For some reason I only ordered 2. You can see my picks a few post before this one.

I overlaid a cut piece of black transparent plastic from a file folder onto the gauge itself, giving it a smoked look. From the tests in my garage, I can still see where the needle is pointing while under the garage lights and the backlight shows through nicely in the dark.

BTW I reassembled my fairing and looked in the area you show a gap. I don't have one there but it isn't perfectly flush either. There is a small ridge between the upper and lower fairings.

Well, I couldn't fully take off the side fairings when I removed the front one. I have frame sliders on that use a ginormous hex screw that I don't have. When I get one I'll take it all off again and make sure to get it squared away properly. Oh, isn't there a special screw driver we're supposed to use? I can't remember what it's called. The large phillips head screw on the very bottom of the right fairing is about 2 seconds away from being striped. I need to get it off before I can't anymore.

The two Phillips head screws just use a standard #3 Phillips. Nothing special on those. (I know which one you are talking about as today I discovered I lost mine!).

swapped out the radial 19x20 brembo master cylinder for the OEM equipped brembo that come on the yamaha R-6 and R-1. I don't know what size piston is in the yamaha unit but it has to be smaller because I've gained back a bit of feel. still hoping to get my hands on a brembo 15RCS master to test out later.

I gave it a start to see how it would idle in the freezing cold and then gave it some sexy looks.

Put my new telescoping magnet thing in my tank bag.

Found that my clutch cable on my ZX6R was fraying, which explains why shifting felt different. Turns out that I can shift smoothly and do rev-match downshifts a lot better with a half-frayed cable, figures.

Installed a pair of Philips H7 X-treme Power headlight bulbs on the 250R, glad to have a functional high-beam flash now. Lubed the chain, needs a good cleaning before the next lube as I've been riding in the rain.

I filled her up and took her on our first canyon run. I live in the San Fernando Valley, so I decided to take it to a nearby canyon which I've driven many times and am quite comfortable on; Little Tujunga Canyon. About 18 miles of beautiful scenery and great turns. Such a great ride. Definitely still feel sketch with some of the turns, but I eventually found a good rhythm. Loved the fact of how empty it was.

So I finally got the R-1 rotor I've been waiting for so I swapped the 310mm R-6 rotor for the 320mm R-1 rotor.

Just remember that with all these mods to my brakes I'm just overpowering the my stock soft pogo stick front suspension even more. I so need to follow your example and add stiffer springs and emulators. Or like my old crew chief tells me "why don't you just go buy another R-6 and be done with it"

lol y u no R6?!

Yeah the .80 / 20wt / emulators are like night and day from stock. You even have the .6 or whatever, so you're closer. You won't regret it.

New to the scene, so only shops/stores I know of are Cycle Gear and the few dealers in the Valley.

Definitely a fun little canyon. Once I get comfortable and upgrade the gear. I'll be taking a drive up to Lake Hughes Road. That's 30 miles of fun.

Moved the helmet lock, then took a 20-minute ride until it snowed

It was on the upper frame tube above the left exhaust bracket. Now it's just in front of the right rear turn signal. Only 26 degrees today, so a short ride.

When I was in SoCal for my last 50mile ultramarathon in April I got to ride that road out and back twice on the ninjette. I even got a chance to make a group of CBRs look like Newbs

After getting slapped upside the head by a brilliant idea of how to lengthen my clutch cable the extra 3mm I was to short to get my CRG clutch lever and perch installed. I installed it while taking a lot of pics so keep an eye out for my DIY for lengthening a OEM clutch cable 5mm soon to come.

What brake pads did you use? Did you bleed/replace the fluid as well?

I'm running Vesrah pads and DOT 5.1 and love the feel.

I didn't bleed/replace, as I did that during my SS lines upgrade. Here's what I went with:

Front: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ls_o04_s00_i00

Back: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ls_o05_s00_i01

Fluid is just run of the mill standard fluid; wtf that is.

Replaced the clutch cable on my ZX6R in about 20 minutes. Zip tied one end of the new cable to the old one and just pulled it through without having to remove the fairings. Went ahead and lubed the cable since it was accessible (probably overkill, but meh).

Checked the tire pressures on the 250R, something that I admit to not doing enough.

broke a bolt...

saw uniform corrosion on the exhaust can cover so i wanted to clean it, i think the bolts had loctite on them

broke one bolt off and the stem's still in the exhaust can...

maybe an excuse to get an aftermarket exhaust?

---> or just a screw extraction kit.

I reconditioned the leather on my jacket, gloves and boots, gave them all a good wash, scrub and brush with boot polish.

Washed the inner lining to my helmet and gave the visors a good clean.

Look after your gear and it'll look after you.

I swapped out the original 195 stat that came with my thermo-bob for another 195stat bill sent me for testing. Removed my caliper bracket so it could trim it down to its final shape, and hide away my Koso speedo sensor. Then washed and polished the crap out of it for tomorrow's ride

Cold/Rainy ATX here... haven't been on in 2 weeks..... feel my life ending!

But I've added a Two Bro's exhaust, K&N, some T-Rex frame sliders in the past month. Got some new integrated turn signal mirrors, hopefully get them on tomorrow

Didn't really think this warranted it's own thread, but I have been busy repairing the fenders, tacked the plastic in place with a hot screw driver, glued / filled with epoxy and for the deeper scratches I used Isopon P38 filler "like bondo" then sander with 60, 80, 120, 240 I believe.

The filler looks deeper than it is, the blind rub test shows no bumps, i'll prime it tomorrow or Saturday to show it in it's true colours, problem is I only get ten minutes usable light after finishing work so I don't get much time other than weekends for repairs.

It costs about £220 = $357 or £440 = $ 714 for the two after shipping for a new side fender here and their is no second hand market where I live, so it's a lot cheaper for me!

went out for a ride
~28-32 degrees out
spent 15-20 minutes in a parking lot working on my countersteering and braking
then the rest of it on a nice little 12 mile loop of the only back roads that i know how to get to without a highway near my home
came back an icecube and now i think i may have caught a cold
worth it though, needs to be spring already

Gave it a quick spray of an old can of primer to see how well it had fixed up and I am very pleased!
