Ninja 250 stalling on hard breaking

Hi Guys, I have been having trouble with my bike recently it is a 2011 ninja 250 and has done about 7000KM.

In the last couple of weeks when I break hard the engine will cut out, it will do this when the tank is full or empty and if the choke is on or not. It appears to happen more frequently when the bike has been ridden for less than 10 min.

I don't have an experience fixing bikes but have always been willing to pull things apart and learn, anyone have a clue as to what could be going on?

It's a little bit "lumpy" but always has been this way, tried setting idle speed from 1,500-1,750 with no love.

A lumpy idle @ 1500-1700 is an indication that there's either a fuel or air problem. After the bike is warmed properly does it run OK or does it still cut out?
Do you blip the throttle to keep the engine from cutting off until it's properly warmed/ridden for more than 10 minutes?
Do you pull in the clutch early or late under heavy breaking? Why all the heavy braking?
Is your air filter clean or snorkel blocked?
Any mods to the carbs?

After some more testing tonight the problem seems to go away after 15+ min of riding, blipping the throttle doesn't stop the bike cutting out, clutch is always all the way in (early) before I break hard. The heavy breaking is because my morning commute is down a road with free flowing but heavy traffic and it's very common to get cut off, and I'm not talking emergency breaking just heavier than normal. I don't have any mods, how do I check if the snorkel is blocked? Where is it?

You need to disengage the clutch when you come to a stop.

So light braking is fine?

Pull the air filter and verify the airbox is empty/clean. Check the filter while your there. Reference the photo's here for snorkel location and air filter removal.

What part of the bike are you "breaking" when the engine stops?

Set your idle speed to 1500 after the bike is fully warmed. With the choke fully on, the idle speed should increase close to 3k while warming up.

I'm using the front break and a little of the rear.

Just pulled it out and the airbox and snorkel are both empty and the filter looks near new, probably replaced at last service. I assume the clear oil the filter is covered with is normal?

Idle speed is bang on what you are describing. I returned it to these settings a couple of days ago because I normally run it at about a 1,750 idle is this bad for the motor?

is it hard to push the bike with the clutch pulled, and in 1st gear.

if so you might need to adjust the clutch cable.

I think you might be on to something the bike is definitely harder to roll when in first than in neutral. I have tried adjusting at the clutch lever but no matter how short or long I make that screw it's definitely still dragging, tried down near the clutch also and now I like the way the clutch is setup but still same issue.

The other thing I have noticed is after it stalls the engine is hard to start and sounds like it has been flooded...

Has this bike set up for any time period? It's starting to sound like a dirty carb. issue.
