Slip-on rivets on 93 Ninja 250 came off..

As video shows, the rivets finally came off. They had been loose since I got the bike.

I tape part of the exhaust in heat wrap so it wont melt ma boot.

Not sure how rivets work in this case ( just put them in with pressure)?
or

should I weld the slip-on?

or...

Buy or borrow a pop-rivet tool and fix it. Steel or aluminum rivets are available, but I suggest the steel. This animation shows how the tool works. http://www.technologystudent.com/images2/popriv3.gif

Steel is stronger. They come in various size. Try a 1/8" rivet for fit. If it fits loosely in the existing holes, drill the holes to 3/16" and use a 3/16" rivet. You want them to fit snuggly so they don't pull clear through the metal.
