Angry Why you should get framesliders PRONTO!

...was about to head out to get some dinner when I realized I had forgotten my phone in my room. Put the bike back in neutral, jumped off, went to the front door and asked my roommate to keep a look out as I run upstairs. It took me about two minutes to get into my room, find my phone and step out of the front door. What I found waiting for me...sheesh...suffice it to say my heart freaking sunk! The scene that awaited me was of my baby lying on her side, leaking gas like tears of pain and my roomy wringing her hands with her face turned crimson. I rushed over, picked my bike up...deaf to the world and the repeated cries of "I'm so sorry" from my roommate. As I write this, I'm surprised at how calmly I reacted even though I was a boiling pot of rage inside, or I would be looking for a new roommate now...She thought she would sit on my bike and await my return...and as she put it, as she swung her legs over the seat and tried to right the bike, it toppled over on the opposite side. FVck! I'm getting pissed just sitting here writing this, lucky b!tch is sleeping like a baby in the other room.
...but hey, she's promised to do my laundry for a month AND clean my room (all of it her idea of making it up to me) can't deny I'm not inwardly pleased lol ...and the bike's not that damaged as can be seen from the pics below...
POINT: Before you go about tricking your bike out like I did mine (rearsets, koso gauge, clip ons, ss brake lines, integrated taillight, flush signals + front leds, cowl, HIDs, stickers, hugger, rim strips, headlight splitter, shorties, slip-on, pre-load adjusters (not installed yet) plenty of miscellaneous cosmetic ish ...) BUY FRAME SLIDERS! I'm getting the shogun ones ASAP. Learn from my lack of proper prioritizing folks.
Here's the damage...ahem...scratches I mean

and I guess I'm partly to blame for not having at least taught her how to properly mount (pun intended) lol. F(*&# MY LIFE!

yo! sweet! I was thinking about getting some sort of filler and then covering it with paint from colorite...hmm...do you think cover-up paint from colorite would adhere to this clear coat?

I couldn't say 100% but I don't see why not. If you wanted to be sure you could sand the area a bit before hand.

It doesn't look like your roommate damaged anything other than your clear coat though since it's only snowy white. You'd see traces of primer/ the black plastic if you really needed to touch up with paint.

Thanks! I'll order a pair now. There are some dark chips on the very bottom of the fairing though, so I'll get a colorite pen for that. THANKS

Not too concerned about the scratches on my shorties and the bar end (which I'll be replacing soon enough), but any ideas on covering up scratches on anodized aluminum? nail polish?

the scratches are so small you could probably get away with painting them over with any paint that would adhere to metal. Your roommate took the opportunity to rough up the surface for you () so I'm guessing you'd just need to clean with alcohol then very lightly touch up the area with a paint marker. You might want to find a way to dilute it to so it's not too thick, but a thin layer of something like a sharpie paint marker usually isn't fully opaque. Just try to absorb some of the extra paint with a paper towel.

I know...I was tempted to say something like that to her...the lease is in my name and everything, so that should have been easy...but, hey, I have a soft heart for them females bro...and you should have seen her freckled face all red and puffy lol. Curiosity got the best of her, and I'm going to drag her to the bike 2morrow and really show her how to safely sit on it.

My top choices were the T-Rex ones or the Shogun ones. The T-rexs have affordability going for them but are currently out of stock (everywhere!), so I have opted for the shogun ones (best mounting place giving best protection, though being pricier). You get what you pay for and can't possibly go wrong with shoguns. (slight "cutting" necessary though).

which ones?...the good ones are supposed to break, thereby dissipating the force that would otherwise bend frames or..in your case, **** up the engine.

Well my bike didn't slide it lifted into the air and fell directly on the frame slider breaking it and scratching the engine. It was just a scratch on the engine though lol.

And question, if they are supposed to break, wouldn't that destroy the fairing? It's a very narrow space where they stick out

well..in the case of zero-speed drops like the one my baby suffered, they'd hold up I'd guess and not break. I was thinking more of a femur crunching crash like yours
...starts looking at pics of sliders to measure angles and possible fairing damage if they brake...

Just to voice another opinion on frame sliders. To me the answer on frame sliders is no. To each their own.

Sorry your bike got dropped.

The downside to sliders is if they hit or catch anything like a curb, crack, edge of a manhole, etc, the frame's going to get bent, thus likely totaling the bike.

These bikes get totaled by tipping them over. Honestly any crash over 10mph will probably total the bike

i dont know about 10mph but my friend wrecked at 15mph and the insurance totalled it.
just ended up being fairing damage.

any dents in the wheels and a scratch in the spools they will total it as well.

Here's my crash :

Link to original page on YouTube.

Frame slider on the left catches the dirt and flips the bike over...
Therefore, F@CK framesliders. Never again. They are good for 0-5mph drops nothing else.

i would rather bang up my fairings than bend up my frame. no sliders on my bikes.

sliders are more useful on yamahas that have tanks that bang and open up and catch the bike on fire.

Hey, I know it sounds cheesy, but take a magic marker to the scratches in the anodized stuff, then wipe it off. Stuff stays down in scratches and takes the noticability away.
