Tank bra?

I've seen leather tank pads/protectors on a number of bikes around the site, new and old style, but can't find who makes 'em or even what exactly they are called. I think they're 'tank bras' but all I can find searching around are the gel/plastic decal protectors or leather straps for cruisers.

Looking for something to do a better job than the little tank pad gel-sticker I've got.

Any help?

Tank Bra is correct.
The only one I know of is made by Targa http://fatbikez.com/targa-vinyl-half...2008-2009.html
Personally, I wouldn't use one because all the road grime and dirt will get under it and eventually scratch the clear coat. Depending on what you really need... you could just get a bigger sticky gel thing.

Hehehe! Thanks all.

Joel, while I agree stuff will collect, I'm a bit of a clean freak so not too worried about that. Do a fair bit of touring (5-600miles/weekend) so want something that provides a little more coverage than those gels provide.

Ladies, as always, thanks!

Got my Lockhart Phillips bra at the local Kawi dealer. Had to get it as it had my name on it (Lockhart). I was sceptical and had a bit of a time getting it to fit but it's worked out well.

Targa one blows for the new-gen. The design for the targa on the pre-gen was quite good, and it stayed in place. The new-gen one doesn't stay in place without adding some type of adhesive to the tank area to keep it in place.

A google search turns up this post first looking for the Lockhart-Phillips tank bra... anyone have a link or a line on where to get one?

Thanks for the heads-up on the Targa

This i a real carbon fiber bra

this is mine from sportisi a Monster print.but they have a carbon print (all made by carbon fiber + plastic)

just make sure u double tape it all the way to the tip around the bra.so no dust will go in.

I got my Targa tank cover from a local bike dealership. Fits perfectly. Packaging says, "Targa 1/2 tank cover. part # 27-456-L." I search it and found this website. Lots cheaper then what i bot mine for. http://fatbikez.com/targa-vinyl-half...2008-2009.html

Personally I think the tank bra makes the bike look ugly. I wouldn't get the carbon fiber either cause they'll end up with little cracks. If I had to cover my tank, I'd either get tank pad/grip or a tank condom that will cover the whole tank.

Cracks:

I bought one and think it's been a good value to keep the paint from getting marked up. You have to use the side covers to contain the edges of the bra but found no difficulty in fit, form or finish. JMO Wardie

I do not recommend using a tank bra in a wet climate. I had one on my old EX500, and eventually the moisture trapped underneath caused the tank to start rusting.

I wonder if they've changed their diesign, as the one I bought when the new-gens first came out was terrible.

Same here. I've had my Targa tank Bra for 5 years with no problems.

They should be removed and allowed to dry when they get wet, also periodically cleaned of any dust or debris that may become trapped underneath.

Well, yes. No one bothered to tell me when I bought it that in the Pacific Northwest, you basically should remove it all winter long...
