Anybody missing a ninjette? (seattle)

Saw a pretty suspicious posting for a blue pregen, approx. 10k miles. Pictures show locked handlebars and it has no title and no keys. Looks like it's stuffed into a shed, too.

Who sells a vehicle with no key and no title? Perhaps you should e-mail the local constabulary.

Beyond shady -- no key, no title, no details. Year isn't listed, model isn't listed, etc.
At *BEST* I can imagine it was 'locked in a shed' or something and the new house owner found it.

How would somebody go about contacting the police about this? I've never done it before and I don't know the proper channels for it

Pretend to be interested, go get the VIN and the plate (middle pic looks like it still has the plate on the back), then give some excuse for having to wait. Toddle on down to local SO and tell suspicions to person at the front desk? Have a print out of the craigslist add, with whatever address the bike is located at on it so they can see where it is.

I'm sure they'll hook you up with the proper channel.

Dur! Let me ask the person i know at a police station. Gee Teri that might be the smart thing to do...

I was told "Contact the local Police department. They probably won't do it over the phone. He needs to bring in what he saw."

Guessing that means the ad.

A good start is to determine which local law enforcement agency would be responsible for the investigation (most likely based on where the motorcycle for sale is located), then look up that agency's 7-digit (non-emergency) number, call it, and ask the nice person that answers what the best way would be to send the info for that agency. Many agencies are up on technology and I'm sure would have no problem receiving an e-mail with the info to follow up on. Others would want to go with more old fashioned communications channels.

I would try to do the same as stated above and get the VIN number for the bike and check to see if it was reported stolen. Recently when i was getting a new bike i came across this idiot doing the same thing, only it turns out he was committing insurance fraud and had reported the bike stolen, so he was selling it with no key and title.

Have any of you bothered to click the contact button on the craigslist add?
He has a phone number and email for contact, might want to call and see how and why the auction is without a key and title.

Just woke up, sorry.

I contacted him via email to try and get the vin, but he's being dodgy about it. Won't be able to get up to where he is for a couple of days

If you got his address, I would still report it. If there is a report filed for a bike which fits the description, I do believe they have to investigate it. Just to be sure.
