"Reduced Head" Flange Bolts?
Does anyone know where to purchase "reduced head" style flange bolts, as used on the motor? Preferably with black oxide coating. The flange on most bolts I can find is too large to fit in the counterbored holes.

Flange is too big. For the OEM M6 bolts, the head size is 8mm and the flange is 10.7mm. The bolts from McMaster have a head size of 10mm and a flange size of 14.2mm. The socket cap ones are better (12.5mm) but are still larger than I'd like. Plus then only the replacement bolts have socket heads...
I've checked McMaster, MSC, Grainger, and a few other places. Can't seem to find them anywhere. |

Why not just get the original bolts from Kawasaki?

you could just get the larger flanged generic bolts and grind them down. you'll need to redo the black oxide where you ground but that's pretty easy. also, they're martensitic so go very slow and keep them cool if you don't plan on redoing the heat treatment.

I was just looking to have some spares on-hand. A handful of each size/length would be plenty. The ones Alex linked to on McMaster are $0.11 each in a 100 ct. package and are class 10.9. |

These bolts meet the old JIS specification. They have smaller heads than ISO Metric bolts.
