Koso RX-1N guage install help

I've been searching the forums for any previous installs but only found skilletmos thread on the newgen. Has anyone out there figured what wires are the correct wire to tap into to? Possibly from a trail tech vapor install.

I have picked up a cluster harness off eBay so I don't have to hack mine and I'm picking up the cluster tomorrow. I've also printed out the wiring diagram to start and plan the install

I'm sure eventually ill figure it out myself but if anyone has some input or ideas that would be great, and if I'm the first I'll be sure to post the how to

Skilletmos write up on the gauges install worked perfectly for mine. All the wires matched up the same for my 2005. I will work on a DIY for mounting it.

Check that, all the wires are correct although I am having trouble with the tach signal. It is very jumpy, has anyone had similar issues? Also if the tach wire is near the speedo sensor wiring it is picking up an irratic speed signal (speed starts jumping around while bike is stationary. I have tried wiring the tach to the original tach feed, wrapping around the plug wire and connecting to the igniter box, all three with a jumpy tach. It also reads 4000-5000 rpm at idle and the bike is simply not idling that high. Although it seems accurate at higher rpm although it still jumps.

Only just got this page. I may be a year late, but thanks, choneofakind.

Did you ever solve the jumpy tach, @UnshavenCanuck? Did you try a 600k .25w resistor like @Chicagobob suggested?

Never totally solved it. I'm using a 100k 2w resistor whith ok results. After long rides the tach drops to 500 rpm all the time. Even Koso wasn't very helpful.
