Brake light
Hey I have run into a problem changing the brake light from the old bulb to LED set up. Ive connected the new brake light and the brake light stay on bright solid amd when i apply the brake its not flashing red. Ive connected black wire to black wire, blue to blue red to red. Any ideas on what i need to do?

Most likely an LED would need a resistor to function properly

LED lights for motorcycles should be designed for 12V, so they don't need resistors to function correctly, but they sometimes need diodes to isolate things. In this case I don't understand how these particular LED lights are supposed to work, so I haven't commented on what might be wrong.
On vehicles that sense the current in lighting circuits (CAN bus, for example) it's possible that load resistors are needed in parallel with the lights so the computer will see the correct current to them, rather than the lower current that most LEDs need. Ninja 250s are not in this category. Isolation diodes are needed on our 250 when turn signals are changed to LED, because of the way the instrument cluster indicators are wired, but Craig is talking about a rear stop/tail light. |
