Whats the fastest you've gotten your 250r to?

So whats the fastest you have gone? I GPS my ride today because I know our speedos are off. Used my android with an app called Speedview

I purposely don't GPS my ninja because I don't want to know how slow I am going

I went so fast I was afraid to look at the speedo. My eyes were watering and my flip-flop almost blew off. It must have been 160mph but it felt like 200. Next time I gotta wear a helmet.

i dont get it...

so when your speedo was showing "0 mph" you were actually going 104 mph ?!
noice

250r speedo's are inaccurate, thats why when i read a similar thread they state that it was "indicated speed" not actual speed

lol im trying to figure it that was sarcasm lol

The gauge seems to be about 4-5mph off all the time. The 104 is actual speed

so when you say "off" does it mean its actually going faster or slower than indicated?

Well that explains why cars pile up behind me. Just wondering, does anyone know if the speedo is more accurate at lower speeds, say in the 25 to 35 mph range?

Well on mine its almost always off, but down lower is less, so like 1-3 miles an hour. Then after that is 4-5 then after 90mph is decides it wants to be really accurate and only be like 1-3mph off

Thanks for the info! Today was the first day I took my new 250r, my first bike, on the freeway. 70 was pretty comfortable once I got used to the feeling of the wind lifting my helmet... still, cars passing me all afternoon... whateva it was a blast!

I had my 2001 back in the day when it was new, over 115mph indicated on the speedo.

My new to me 1995 I have now, I have gotten to about 73mph, down hill with a tail wind!!! It is in the shop getting the carbs rebuilt, hopefully that will solve that problem.

Iv hit 110mph maybe 115, but I know Iv hit 110 for sure. I have a tendency to not look at the speedo at these speeds.

Was that down hill with a 60 mph tail wind?

I love the indicated vs actual debate that seems to only occur on motorcycle message boards. I have lots of car-nut friends and actual vs indicated is not something they talk about much (if at all). Everyone knows speedo’s are notoriously off and just accept it. When a car guy says he got a Mustang to 135 last weekend, the first questions from his buddies are about what mods he’s made and HP. They generally don’t question the speedo numbers or discount his claim as being only 'indicated'.

Is this just a bike thing?

YES. Generally, car speedo's are only +/- 1 mph at 100

I've had it just under 180km on a loooooong stretch not sure what the real speed was...

Regularly on the highway I'll be sitting at 160-165km at 10500-11000rpm passing just about everything. I hope the real speed is under 150km....Here in Ontario theres a law where if you go 50km over the speed limit they can impound your bike for 7 days on the spot and hand you a stunting a charge

My bike won't go over 95 indicated, flat or downhill doesn't matter. The strange thing is my friend clocked his car at 105 mph next to me when I was at 95. I guess his speedo is off too

I guess I'm saying who cares if someone said they got up to 105 but they only 'really' went 98? What's a few MPH one way or the other? Unless someone's keeping score and didn't tell the rest of us.

I just thought it was kinda weird. I saw a 3 page flame-fest on another site because some guy said he reached a number that some said couldn't be true. As I read the posts (some of them were hilarious - they were actually upset about it), I wondered why it bothered them so much that some guy posted a top speed 5 or 6mph faster than his online friends.

In certain conditions, on certain days, 40mph feels insanely fast to me. Other days, 75 feels fast. What someone else does or says they can do doesn't change that for me.

There is an important variable that has been over looked in the thread; the color of your bike. Everyone knows that Kawasaki is know as "Team Green", hence they always make the green bikes so much faster.

It doesn't matter to me personally how fast it will go as long as it travels at highway speeds.

The speed limit?

OK, this one time I may have seen an indicated 96 on the speedometer. I must have been looking at the kilometers per hour.

Fun fact: I have attained a faster top speed on the 250 than I have thus far on the ZX-6R.

165 km/h on a slight uphill. I feel like I could maybe squeeze 170+ out of her on a flat and long stretch, because I don't have much of an issue getting to 160. I'll gps her tomorrow. I figure that's pretty good considering I'm 6'4 190 lbs, but after all I do have the red colour.

actually, i was kidding. i havent really opened mine up all the way yet. i have cruised at 75-80 mph for close to 2 hours steady with my changed gearing pretty comfortably, but i havent checked what the top speed is.

Now to be a devil's advocate and start a heated debate - is there a point to this question? Like is my dick bigger than yours, are my balls bigger than yours?
Am I so much of a better rider than you 'cause I can go really fast and live to brag about it?
What's the point of riding that fast on a road? Take it to the track if you want to show off. Then you'll only kill or hurt yourself, not someone else, and you are potentiating the squid image which really helps all those on a bike.
I just don't see the point in establishing bragging rights for something like that.
See you in the ER if you make it that far. See the thread on medic opinions above.
