So awesome. So true.

I'll always have a couple of dogs in my life. I have two greyhounds now. Not counting the beagle we had when I was a kid, I've had seven dogs.

I've had to care for them when they were sick.

I saw one go through the ravages of cancer.

I've held my old and dear friends as they were put down and it still makes me cry when I think of them.

I've had to attempt CPR on one of them and begged him not to go.

There's nothing quite like coming into a dark bedroom in bare feet at night and stepping in a pile that your puppy has left for you.

My current pair try to dig to China every chance they get.

They put their nose half an inch from my face and stare at me as I sleep, asking "Dad? You in there?"

They eat books.
And shoes.
And magazines.
And furniture.

They bark at the neighbors but ignore wildlife we'd rather not have around.

Dog haiku:

This sofa is mine
You may think that it is yours
But you are so wrong.

I wouldn't trade one single moment.

As written by someone with pint sized dogs....

Bigger dogs tend to act a little better than that. HAve yet to see one of my dogs that wouldn't look at a cat, or treated a cat as anything but vermin to be hunted and run off.
