oil level
When doing an oil change do you check the level when the bike is running or when it is off? I know its kind of a newbie question, but I just want to be sure.

Engine off, bike level from front to back and side to side (not leaning on kickstand or on centerstand).
Have you read your owners manual yet? Here's a link in the pre-gen tech sticky thread area with your manual: https://www.ninjette.org/forums/showthread.php?t=84112
