Squids Unite!
The new gixxers are out. Wahoo!!
http://suzukicycles.com/News/2010/10...XR.aspx?Page=1 I like the new look. The bike has the stubbed nosed look of the CBR and the fang-like main fairing of the R1....gixxers are usually pretty ugly but I think they copied the right guys this time haha. Oh and they finally ditched that zombie seagull shaped headlight thing they used the last time. |

I must not be seeing what your seeing. Cause I don't really see a big difference. I still see the distinct Gixxer front end they've had for years. Yah the headlight doesn't stretch back as far, but that's not much of a difference IMO.

Why not?
BTW... threads like this are funny... GSXRs = squids like Icon = stunters. Pfeh. So squids like Gixxers... doesn't make all those who like the bike squids. Doesn't mean that squids don't ride Kawasakis, Hondas or Yamahas, either. As an actual motorcycle (as opposed to an expression of opinion and image) the GSXR appeals to me because I actually fit on the thing. I couldn't live with a Yamaha sportbike because they're built for people much taller than I am. It's also now the lightest bike in its class, has the most power in its class, and has the same suspension bits as the 600 that won all the 2k9 comparos (the ZX6R). I'll be giving this one some serious consideration when it's time to move on. |

Yeah, the 750 really appeals to me... but not because of greater power. It's because (on paper, anyway) it looks more usable in the low and mid range.
Most of my riding miles are spent commuting, where you can't really use a lot of power anyway... and where you want torque. If you look at the dyno curves for the 750 against a known-excellent 650 all-around bike -- the Suzuki SV650 -- they're reasonably close until you start to wind them up to high revs. Then the 750 just keeps going and going while the 650 peters out. Contrast this to a 600 supersport... doing the same comparison, the 600 actually lags behind the SV650 over the low and mid power band where you're spending most of your time in everyday riding -- which is why the SV650 is arguably a better commuting machine than a 600 supersport. So the thinking is this... the 750 gives you both in one package. Ridden at low to moderate RPM it's got the torque and low-end power of the 650 V-twin. Then, if you get the opportunity, you can open it up and tap into all that power. This is not based on any actual experience, of course... never owned a supersport. But I think it's sound reasoning. |

Totally agree with you. I think the side profile makes it look even uglier then before. I mean you have this sharp looking angular nose from the front. But from the side it looks like the clay model bumped into something pushing in the nose and they just ended up leaving it that way. From the side it looks like the old one has it's face against a piece of glass or something lol.

I think it's funny when people on a kawasaki-biased forum think suzukis are ugly

Nobody but a midget or a two-year-old will routinely look at a bike from that perspective. We all view bikes from and elevated vantage point. I withhold judgment until I can see it in person. I'd be willing to bet it will look good in the flesh - er, metal, rubber and plastic. |

Gixxers have always been known to have great, streetable motors....especially their 750 bike. Everyone and their sister lauds that bike as the best, most versatile and probably most practical SS bike out there. I kinda wonder why Kawi dropped out of the running with their 750 bike. Anyway, I doubt I'd be buying a new SS anytime soon. That's just dumb...unless I like my crap getting stolen. But if I were to buy one, it would either be the Kawi or the Gixxer. The gixxers have tons of little features on it that the Kawi doesn't, but the Kawi is the golden child of the middleweights right now. Can't go wrong. |
