HUD for your helmet

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects...ead-up-display

Seems like something you could make with current (consumer) technology without having to spend $200+ on it.....

Still cool. I thought I had seen a better version before though...

They're smart for getting this out there before 'HUD built in helmets' start coming out..unless they're already out there.

This is more feasible I guess since you can transfer the unit to other helmets.

they have been promising these for a couple years now. Started taking pre-orders about a year ago, some may have shipped but they are like thousands of $$

95% of the reason i like riding a motorcycle is that there is no radio, gps, etc. just solitude. nice to have some time without electronics in your face.

There are a few different systems available.

Skully goes for about 1499.99
Nuviz, a clamp on type system that is an add-on to any helmet runs about 499.99
And another one i consider a HUD helmet (really just a helmet with a built in rear view) is the Reevu, at about 399.99

the product has a major design flaw... no proper defocus means you are unable to look at both the HUD and keep your same focus as you would when looking at the road. this sort of super-tight focus back to super far focus is not only extremely distracting but very hard on your eyes so any kind of extended use of the device would leave you with a terrible headache and eye strain.

A few have done their time in the navy, the Queen's husband was in the navy in WW2 & one of the last generation served with the navy in the Falklands, but I can't see them doing 6 months at a go in a sardine tin...

They get their pick of jobs, piloting a heli sounds like more fun than not seeing daylight for months on end.

You probably get used to the smell, I don't smell most of the chemicals I use now, but anyone walking into the lab for the first time bitches about it for a month or so.

3:1 methanol + acetic acid (100% vinegar)
100% Ethanol
Xylene
Formalin

They should all stink...
