Front 30-32, rear 35-36 generally feels best.

Wow. And it still tore through it that fast? Crazy.

I thought the higher pressure would have kept the wear down...

How big can I get on the rear?

I got the 140 Diablo II for the rear, 110 on the front, but I don't race often enough so tread is thin in the middle. Someone said I should get used track tires because they're already worn on the sides and lots of middle tread.
What's the biggest size can I put on my front and rear? I have my OEMs back on but I feel like people are just waiting for me to start peddling.

120/150 are as large as you want to go and only a few of the 150's fit well enough to be considered "safe" or not have clearance issues. Otherwise stick with the 140 rear. There is some truth to buying track day take offs if you know some people and have a local source. If you only need the center and you can get em $100 at set then go for it.

Sounds like you need a higher mileage tire?

Hey all, I'm new to the site and overall a new rider. Purchased a used 250 eight months ago and now needs new tires. From reading the whole thread, these DRII seems like a great choice for me. However I was wondering since DRII have been out for a few short years, are there any newer brand/model tires out that that perform just as well but with higher millage?

A little bit about me: I commute everyday to work, 37 miles round trip with a about half highways that has some twists and curves to them. I'm just now getting into riding twisty roads around the area about once a month, riding around Alice's in Redwood City, CA and riding to Stinson Beach.

Thanks in advance for any feedback!

Michelin Pilot Street Radials. Can get them in a 140 for the rear, and a 110 or 120(?) for the front. There are some members on here (@nevadawolf) that have put some serious miles on them, with great tread still showing. They have good wet traction also, and seem to cover the range of cruising to mild twisty riding. I have a 140 on the rear, about 1500 miles on it, looks as new as the day I bought it. Similar riding habits to yours.

Check out the Michelin pilot road whatevers that they are. There's a bunch of users on here that have them. I recently had a chance to ride them at an easy pace through some twisties in NorCal. They grip pretty well for general sporty riding and return really great mileage from what other users have reported.

What I would do is put a Rosso II on the front for grip and that pilot street whatever on the rear for mileage. Should be a good combo for mix of commuting and fun rides. Would be a shame for you to commute right through a sticky rear and waste money on it more frequently than needed. That's just me though, coming from really limited tire choice on pregen wheels.

What year 250? If it's a 2008 or newer, the Michelin Pilot Streets seem to be getting the most praise on this site lately. The DRII's are somewhat stickier, but will provide many fewer miles. Unless it's a track and twisty-road only toy, the Michelins are probably the better choice.

(If it's a 2007 or earlier, your 16" wheels do not have either of these tire options available)

My bike is a 2010, I'll check out the posts on the Pilot Streets.

Thanks again all!

Thanks for all the guidance everyone. I decided to go with the Pilot Street for the main reason being mileage. The day I eventually take my bike to the track, I'll be sure to have a set of DRII on first!

Picking up old thread... Question about Diablo Rosso's

Is Pirelli going to discontinue the Diablo Rosso II now the Diablo Rosso III are here?

I'd go for the DR3. It's supposed to be better, but the rear doesn't come in 140/70, which is a size that I like.
