What Do I Need To Do? Installation Help

I bought this exhaust and it is coming this week along with a K&N air filter.

http://www.dan-moto.com/DM_INT/zx-25...oduct-438.html

Do I have to do anything before installing? Or can I just install the exhaust without doing anything special? Same question with the air filter.

both air filter and slip-on are as simple as taking off the old(OEM) one and replacing it with your new parts. After doing so, re-jet is recommended, but you can get away with shimming the needles, though it wont be as effective as re-jet. lots of us, including myself just went with shimming the needles if you were interested in knowing.

I'm a complete noob. How do you shim the needles? What needles? Sorry for the noobish questions.

When you install a new exhaust you typically reduce the amount of back pressure generated by the exhaust. This impacts the fuel air ratio and your engine can start to run lean. By shimming or rejetting you can adjust the fuel air ratio to a more optimally level.

Believe there a ton of DIYs in the tech area.

Its cool. We all have to start somewhere. A lot of these things are located in the DIY section or can be found by using the search bar. When we refer to the needles we are talking about the components in the carburetor. Here is the DIY for shimming the needles: --> http://www.ninjette.org/forums/showt...t=shim+needles
