K&N air filter=Bad idea

Idk who can live with that annoying noise after getting rid of the air box. It's seriously so loud, I can't even enjoy riding!! Just wanted to give a heads up to anybody looking to do this mod.

Do you mean the pod filter? I just did the drop in and heard no change in volume of the intake.

Yes, I did mean a pod. Sorry for not elaborating.

Yea that's pretty common knowledge then. They say the pod filters make the intake noise insane. I'm just going to do a snorkel delete once I get my exhaust.

FWIW, I switched back to my air box with modified intake lid. I love the sound the pod filter makes, I just don't how loud it is. Some people really like it, some don't; to each their own I guess.

I don't mine the sound of pods at all, I am about to debaffle the exhaust to see what it's like too. I have seen videos and heard tell the sound is pretty close to 2bro's as well (pregen btw)but damn those baffles do NOT like to come out.... thought rivets held them on, NOPE rivets are just there for looks apparently haha! Can't find any good info on tearing those suckers out either

...though loud music and air tools have probably left me slightly deaf as well lol

To each their own I guess. The only reason I used it was the air box was broken and found a good deal online. I ended up finding a used one on eBay with the screens and air filter for 25.00. K&n will be put up for sale this weekend.

The sound is not too bad on my bike.

Got the watercraft cover on it though.

I kind of like the noise, to be honest; plus you shouldn't be riding without ear plugs =D

Oh of course I ride with ear plugs. That's my soapbox yo!!! But I can make space for you on it if you'd like

But yeah I just don't like being too loud because I have a habit of going for night rides, and I live in a nice suburban city that's rather sleepy at night. I don't like getting the cops called.

I'm also not sold that the pod filter is better.

Pod filter is quiet compared to a lot of bikes' exhausts out there (600+ CC). I think it's loud in comparison to running the stock airbox but definitely not THAT loud...

Pair it with an aftermarket exhaust. It's louder than the exhaust when you're on the throttle. Idk, I just like a little less noise.

Louder than the stock exhaust or aftermarket exhaust?

It's actually louder than my Muzzy. I went back to the air box for a few reasons. Noise was one of them. I guess I'll see how it works with the fuel injection and re-assess once I see how the air box compares.

Are you gonna do one of those EFI aftermarket kits? Also, did you just run pod filters or did you try the K&N dual filters as well?

Already have one Already have a good start on the tuning. Been running it for about 2000 miles already. I was running a K&N R-0990, just recently changed back to the air box when I was home on break.

Check out the link in my signature for a little more info on my bike. It's also got some tables for fellow ecotrons users to get a little better on some of the tuning variables. I'll even get some good track feedback this summer. So far, so good.

I agree with @choneofakind. I upgraded my air filter to a k&n, and the intake is much louder than my Yoshimura slip on... I'm talking about a zx6r too. I like the noise it makes... and I ride slowly in residential areas.

Nick, I meant a pod filter to replace the air box. Not a panel filter to go in the air box.

Thumbs up Happy with pod filter

I can... I removed my airbox and I couldn't be happier... Of course if I had a dyno to tune the damn thing I'd be ecstatic, but I'll just be happy for now...

I just... can't imagine the sound that it makes. But for $40, I'm gonna give it a try (need to order a FP jet kit for it at the same time though).

@choneofakind Ouuu. Nice mod link
