Alternative to Photobucket

Ok, I'm ****ing sick of photobucket. The site used to be so awesome. It loaded quickly and had one click copy links for embedding images (the IMG links) It used to be so easy to use but now they ****ed it all up. It loads slow, doesn't show as many pictures on each page and the links are no longer one click. I have to click the image to get to the links which wouldn't be such a problem if the site loaded pages at a decent speed. And they even ****ed up the image links so the IMG code ones now also embed the url into the image. I don't want that ****ing ****.

What I'm looking for in an image hosting site
  • Unlimited linking
  • Quick one click link copying for IMG tags (dont want lame ass thumbnails)
  • Uploadable from a cell phone via app
  • A site that is quick loading and easy to use

Thats everything that photobucket used to be but now its none of those things, I'm so ****ing sick of this new version.

So recommendations on AWESOME image hosting sites? I'm willing to pay a yearly price for a damn good service

Google is your friend and so is wikipedia.

You are welcome. I personally use Picasa and love it, but that may not fit your needs.

You're right! Why even have conversations with people when we can just google everything! Personal experiences with products don't really mean much right?

Cool list though, thanks.

What I want is ease of use. Anyone on here who uploads and posts images probably has a service that makes it easy for them, thats what I want to know

Imgur's free version has a limit of 225 images per account, 6 months if there are no views on the image, but they do have a paid service where they remove those restrictions. I've been on it for a year and haven't had any problems yet.

Sometimes they don't mean much and sometimes they do.

No problemo. I also use tinypic.com for stuff like forums, quick linking, etc.

Big fan of smugmug.com. Have used them for many years. They power the random images on this site. Inexpensive, unlimited storage, access to full-size versions of your pics (by you and by your viewers if you choose).

Read your list again. I don't know if there is a one-click linking on a mobile app. There are a number of mobile smugmug apps, but they seemed aimed at browsing the galleries rather than reposting pics elsewhere.

Another vote for smugmug. The guys who own it provide hosting for advrider.com.

I haven't been using it myself yet, but for my needs it honestly appears to best match my needs.

I just need to bite the bullet and pay for a full account.

I don't mind the mobile app as much, but do they have one click IMG codes from a browser?

Photobucket was awesome until that stupid redesign. I could upload an image and then in the same upload window get the IMG code and paste it into my post. With the new photobucket it takes me like 5x as long to Di the same thing I used to do.

Yeah, I have pretty much ditched PB. However, I still keep a ton of art in the private album. So if anyone wants to see my stuff, it is only a click away.

Instagram right now for my drawings. I can't even remember the last time I used PB. PB needs to kick the bucket after that last remodel, it is horrible.

I've been on the lookout for a new service myself.

Just tried it on my phone in months. It has gotten worse. Wow.

However, you can copy the IMG link in the app by clicking the info button down on the bottom right. I won't use it through safari, so I cannot comment on that.

They also made it just about impossible to hotlink fullsize images or albums.

I'm really liking imgur alot. Its not as good as the old photobucket for my needs but it is so much better than the current photobucket. Its quick and fast and only requires 1-2 extra steps to get the IMG codes. There's no real app for it on the iphone but thats ok.

Now if only photobucket hadn't broken their download entire album feature (yes it existed before and now it is a coming soon feature) I could download all my pics and upload them to imgur. Oh well.

****ing photobucket

eat a dick

lol

I'm tired of all the updates to sites to make them slower, get more ads in and all these features that are flipping useless. I don't need a crop, or anything like that in PB. I have photoshop and there are a ton of free/cheap programs to do that for you. I should be able to uncheck a lot of those features to help the load time....

I don't know what they did. Seems like they cut back on server costs or something. It can sometimes take a good five minutes after I click album to actually load up the album. It didn't used to be like that. When they did the photobucket beta there was general complaining about the new format, then they kept it anyway.

But hey imgur is cool, they don't make you watch a video ad while you upload a photo (seriously, who the **** thought that was a good idea? Like I'm going to sit there and watch the upload bar fill up while uploading a photo and subsequently watch their stupid ads)

Imgur, oh god what an improvement, simple and quick. Now I gotta figure out how to pay for it

I love it. We shall slow down your upload time by making you stream a video that you cannot turn off. This is a brilliant idea!!!! We are geniuses!!!! We shall make everyone hate our format to the point that they will go elsewhere for their image hosting needs!

FTW!!!!

Those prices are nuts!
I post my pics on flickr, 1TB free with a limit of 200MB/pic and 1GB/vid. As someone said, they revamped their UI and I quite like it.

However, if you're looking for complete freedom you're much better off setting up your own image/web server and rent the domain name (if you're into that sort of thing). Throw up a website, photoblog, videoblog, etc for less than $24/yr.
