Pre gen-new gen engine differences
Gday all, I am about to replace the cam chain and guides on my '92 Ninja.
I have new pistons and rings to go in as well, but with 98,000 kms. On the clock, I would rather get a newer cylinder to fredhen up to take the new pistons and rings. My question is, are the 2008-2012 engine cylinders interchangeable with the earlier engines? Just trying to find out my options before removing the head and cylinder. Cheers, Rob. |

No. The 92 engine has the chain tensioner in the block . The new engine is a totally different desine. Rods are the same but most of the engine and all of the valve train is different.
