Putting sticker/vinyl/decals to personalize your Ninja...yay or nay?

Not trying to look like a MotoGP racer here, but I do like the idea of putting some stuff on the bike to personalize it. Stuff I like such as Wendys, Alpinestars, Dupont, Cialis (JK), etc.

have you guys done anything like this? just was curious about it.

thoughts and feedback would be appreciated.

Personally I think it looks rather dorky when someone puts a lot of racer boy decals on his bike. "Hey buddy, we know you're not really sponsored by those companies, because you're just not that good."

I think there are tasteful decals, and tacky decals.
It looks sweet if done right, but looks goofy if overdone.

Smile Depends on the type...

I guess it depends on the type of decal. If you do something like the decal from above, then that's a slick personalized look, but adding a whole bunch of sponsors doesn't look that good.

Yay, if its subtle
Nay, if its overdone

I have a couple on at the moment, and probably will put 2 or 3 more at the most. Bike only comes in Green or Black in Ireland so you have to do something to make it stand out a bit.

Stickers can look good and stickers can look real bad. Execution is key.

Oh, but don't put stickers on your bike for stuff you don't have... like putting yosh exhaust stickers on a bike with a stock exhaust.

My bike was an SE and came with a bunch of stickers---all black on the lower fairing. It also had "Monster Graphics" on the upper fairing. Monster energy drinks make me barf, so they came off the hair dryer route. I am still debating taking the others off. There are pictures of the bike in the picture section with Monster Graphics and without.

Talking

Karl, It is appropriate for an Irish bike to be GREEN. I love that color. Rode mine on St. Patrick`s Day last year, and people loved it. We have many people of the Irish Heritage here.

Why you asking others, it's your bike and you know best what you like.

Personally if I were to offer you my opinion it would be nay. I like the stealth jet black look for my bike. I took off the dealer stickers and even the Ninja. Would have removed Kawasaki had it not been under the clear coat on the tank.

Since you ask,

Nay.

Tacky.

The bike looks great the way it came from the factory and doesn't need to be tarted up.

I'm the kind of guy who really appreciates a woman who doesn't need make-up, cosmetic surgery, or figure-enhancing clothing to look good. Same with bikes. My new-gen looks sexy as hell without anything extra.

Minimalist here..... and if i did it would be for the products on the bike. The decal/striping for the 2010 N-250 is way to gawdy. Thank god I got the 2009.

I say do whatever pleases you as it is YOUR bike.

Personally, I find a few decals to be fine if tastefully applied. I am in the process of adding Kawasaki decals to my bike but ...... .to each his own.

This.

I personally really don't like the look of logos and such. Unless you're sponsored by that company, it seems kind of cheesy to advertise for them. Otherwise, I just can't see company decals having any personal meaning to them, as, unless your some sort of label queen, there's nothing really you in there.

Custom paint jobs, however, I'm all for. This is probably just the artist in me talking, but I think designing patterns and images or adding stylized little flourishes add a lot more uniqueness and tell a lot more about a person than simply logos for the brands they wear or the places they eat.

But, that's just my opinion. At the end of the day, it's your bike. If adding decals to your bike of your favorite brands and what have you make you smile that much wider everytime you see it, then by all means, don't listen to my nonsense. The whole concept of personalizing something is to make it so it matches your personal aesthetic. So if you like how it looks, go for it

Mine was a "Special Edition" with a lot of sponsor decals. It was the last bike available in the state, so I bought it. Today I took all the decals off except for the Kawasaki decals and the Ninja decals. The bike looks a lot better. 18 year old nephew thought the stickers were cool. I never heard of half the stuff the stickers advertised---Attack, Power Commander, LP Racing, Maxxima Racing Oil, Dunlop, Monster Energy.

My bikes are corporate logo free. My Micron logo on the exhaust on my Yamaha is enough. The PUIG on my windscreen is going to come off in the spring. All other aftermarket logos have been stripped. If I get any decals for the ninja they'll probably just be the scratchon body graphic. I did have an ICON logo on my windscreen but I got free gear from them for a couple hours of "modeling" and answering questions at a customer appreciation night at one of the local dealerships.

BUT, it's your bike, if you like the logos put them on.

Smile

I have a 1991 ex250 which has original decals.
Some look very worn so I'm trying to replace with duplicates.
That said the previous owner dropped it and there are some
deep scratches in the fairing which have been painted over.
I have a love of martial arts so got some decals which say Samurai
in Japanese script. These match the colour of original decals.
The result is a bit of personalizing easily removed if need be
and the eye is drawn away from the scratches.
My point is we are all individual and so are our bikes.
Do what ever makes you smile when you look at it.

I keep decals of parts I got on the bike, but I have been thinking of removing them for a "cleaner" look. Plus I don't really care if people know what I have done! Lastest picture of my bike..

If I get stickers or whatnot with parts I buy, I tend to put them on the bike. I figure that if the mfg. is going to include them, I don't mind putting up a tiny bit of publicity if the product is good.
