K&N air filter worth it??
I've heard of several people installing a K&N air filter to replace the stock ones. My questions is, is it beneficial to change the stock foam air filter? Will any tuning be needed although there is supposedly more airflow with the K&N?

there in a slight increase in airflow. I honestly don't think you will need to change jetting. If anything just add a couple shims under each needle and you should be ok.

If you're not careful with removing the carb screws, you may strip the head and may have a difficult time to removing them.

If you mess with the carbs then I highly recommend replacing those screws with hex heads, I got a set of those with my AreaP jetting kit and they were a godsend. |

I replaced my old air filter with a K&N. The thing was absolutely disgusting.
Before: The K&N one is much much nicer, overall its incredibly made, very sturdy and quality product. Haven't noticed any gains from it, but then again I just started riding so I'm the wrong one to make a judgement call on performance. |

You happen to remember the part # for the KN air filter? I rather check the stores before i show up and come up empty handed, its about a 45 min drive to the city. Found some oil on my stock one last week too and you just reminded me i forgot to replace it.

The part number is KA-2508
I got it from amazon for $36 shipped, most stores I've seen carry it for around $44 + tax, the time and gas it takes for you to get there.. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 |

Well this sucks. I've called a few parts places that are open on Sundays and no ones carries it. Haven't found a parts store online in Canada, i'll have to figure out who i dealt with in the past. Not available on Amazon.ca this is the downside of living up north i guess. I'll keep looking online if i can find it at a canadian parts store online...ughh

I'm on the east coast of Canada more like three hours from the border of Maine. Besides checked the site and they don't carry one for our bike.
If i order something from the states i have to pay Duty which is ridiculous not to mention pay extra for international shipping. Appreciate the help regardless.
