I'm pretty sure I will be going fairly slow. It looks like my bike will be bogging until my jet kit come to match the air filter. If we have to form two groups of riders I'm probably going to be in the back. Read as "Can't get over 7k at the moment"

No problem, I kept it at 4k for the first 100mi up in the twisties! lol

Slim price to pay for modifications, but as a trade off, I do have a video camera and can record the rest of the bikes/riders from the back of the pack.. along with photo ops.

No! It's raining today. Hopefully it's not out there in Azusa, or if it is, hopefully it'll be cleared up and dry by Saturday.

Provided everything's nice again by the weekend, I finally got my mount for my camera, so I should also be able to record. I also got a new one piece suit over the weekend, which may or may not be broken in enough to ride out there in by then.

On that note- Slowest. Week. Ever.

I finally got to try my pants last night and they are definitely not broken in
Good thing I got them one size larger and put sweats on under because I think I need to wear them without the sweats or thermals! Little tight in the knee area otherwise.

I think GMR is 4,000' elevation max. As long as it dries up for Friday and Saturday, we should be OK. I don't know about the fire areas and flooding though on the other (first) portion of the ride. I've never taken that road.

Its fine. The roads aren't bad, even after rains. I went up earlier in december and it was fine. The fires didn't effect the roads on GMR that much. See everyone on Saturday!

I've never ridden Azusa, and depending on conditions I might be more inclined to ride at a relatively cautious speed. But i'll be in full gear either way.

I'm real excited for this ride! Let's pray for clear skies. We definitely need a group photo.

I might head up Azusa/GMR Friday after work--just to see what the roads are like and post my findings on the forum. Usually after the rain--it's not so bad.

KSU 10:15 am Azusa/Shell Station

Looks like the rain will hold out!!!!

Why sweats or thermals? It's not THAT cold I wear a Psycle Skins undersuit. Keeps the sweat away and makes taking your leathers on and off easy peasy.

Sweats under everything FTW!
Just how I ride in winter I guess. No problems as the pants are somewhat tight in the knee with no undergarments! Man nothing fits me very good, I'll just have to get used to it. It's not easy being tall. All my clothes were made for short people. (see flooding jacket in avatar)

Yeah for the freeway ride there I'm kinda iffy.
If that jet kit doesn't show up by Friday about 3pm, I might have to shoehorn the stock airbox back in there for this ride or something. Cutting it close.
I really don't think I can ride down there on 7k rpm on the freeway.
Not so sure running that lean is good for the bike either.

PS.. if those Sidi's are boots, you'll be very happy.
I've had my Sidi's for years and beat on them all the time and they take it no problem.

Looking forward to the ride!

I'm hoping I can make it!

If my jet kit comes in the mail today I'll be there! Otherwise I might have to sit it out. Can't ride the bike in it's current thirsty state. Got my fingers crossed. I really wanted to make this. If anything I might come in the truck

I'll be wrenching on mine till the last second. It's like an episode of orange county choppers over here without the choppers.

Is your bike running lean? You can temporarily correct it with some tape , i've done it a few times.

Do you already have needles/clips? I have some spare jets I can bring you tomorrow, if you need em.

Tried tape already which didn't work at all for some reason. I was surprised. (pics of tape in mod thread)
Do you still have your runners on your filter?
Looking grim on the mail man showing up here today so far..

Okay guys, I am ready to go except for one minor problem. (didn't think it was thread worthy)
I messed with my needles again but I smell something burning when I put my nose over my tank. I think it could be a hose that is misplaced touching the engine. I have no clue. It is a minor smell, nothing smoking so what do you all think?

I checked the 3 hoses on the side of the tank, and they were all good. The other hoses I touched seem to be in order.

Turn left at the off ramp and after you pass under the freeway, it's on your right. Lots more space to meet up

KC: I almost had to completely tape off the entire filter for the tape mod. I still do have my runners.

Howard: Make sure your spark plug wires are routed correctly. Double check the hoses again. Other than that,IGGYSMALLS(alex) is stumped.

Alex and I just rode 130 miles to Southern California. Nice cool weather. See you guys in the AM! Ride safe on your way

I wasn't aware I was giving advice ...

KC: No matter how slow your bike is, it still isn't slower than JR's was before we rebuilt it. Even to this day, its still slow. I think we were passed by my grandma in her Rascal Round about on the way here.
