I've been trying to get as many hours on my butt as I can to get used to riding long distances. I'm up to 6 hours so far. I only stop for gas (and pee). I haven't been drinking or eating. I find when my arse starts to hurt I sit almost side saddle (butt wise not leg wise) and switch from left to right. My right wrist hurts too. I try using my left hand to hold the throttle for a while. I need to get a cruise control. I've been working various body parts at the gym to get more suited for long distance but I think just riding more is the answer.
