Longest lasting gloves...?
Hey all, I need a glove that will last longer than my last pair. I only got 8 months (5500 miles) out of my current pair of gloves before the leather in the palm cracked and wore a hole exposing my skin. I live in Texas, so I am guessing the hot weather caused sweat to weaken the leather. Anyways anyone know of a glove that has a double or triple layered palm that will last me a long time. I can't afford to buy expensive gloves twice a year.

Look into HELD gloves. One, if not, THE BEST protection gloves you can find. I crashed mine three times (high speed) and no seams burst open.
It'll cause a dent in your wallet but totally worth it. You know what they say, "You get what you pay for." |

Lol. Can't say I would do that, but riding with gloves with a hole in the palm is just as risky.
I am torn between buying cheaper $50 gloves, rather than a $200+ Held glove. Will the Helds last 4x longer? Buying a $50 glove every 6 months is still cheaper than buying a $200 dollar glove every 18 months. I am confident in many gloves protecting me, but my gloves deteriorate because of the sweat. I ride alot, almost daily, not just a track day once a month; so durability is very important to me |

I had a pair of FirstGear Baja... don't get those. The seams around the top of the hand started crapping out a month in.
I just got a pair of A*s Sp-2 gloves, and so far I'm loving them. Wasn't quite a fan of gauntlet gloves before, but I enjoy these... they are much thicker in the palm, and you actually feel protected compared to the old Baja gloves. Granted I've only had them for a month now, so no telling how they hold up, but all the reviews I see online are positive. |

+1 on the A* SP-2. I had a SP-1 for about 4500miles and it looks like it can go another 4500miles without a problem. I did however switch them out because I wanted something with outer seams. The seams on the inside were bugging at my finger tips. Otherwise, i'm sure it'd have lasted longer. The extra padding and layer of leather on the palms make a huge difference in durability. FYI, i switched them out for Rev'it SLR gauntlet gloves and i love them. So comfy and goatskin is so soft.

I have used the same pair of HELD Steve gloves since 2008, over 60k mi. ridden with them. Kangaroo hide seems to hold up just fine..
Ease up on the death-grip may help, too. |

I started with A-stars' SP-2 and they didn't feel right. It wasn't the fit. it was more like the lack of feeling in the palms. I happened to come across a pair of Held Phantom's on craigslist and they are amazing. I seems like I can feel more of the bike, I wouldn't back to cheap gloves after these.

KNOX Hand Armour uses kangaroo hide and magic to keep you safe. I got the type with the exoskeleton. Unfortunately I already took them to the ground in a high speed accident and they are still looking good. Costs a bit less than the high-end HELD gloves and look/feel more expensive.

Wearing Mechanix gloves is just ignorant. With that being said, invest in leather cleaner and conditioner. You will get alot more miles out of them with proper care.
