The scary thing is that it's the nurses in the nursing homes that spread it. Just like it's the crew on the cruise ships that spread it. Doesn't take much and BAM the whole place has it.

Every old person in a nursing home has got to be terrified. And every single person who enters those homes, sick or not, symptoms or none, should have been tested. That goes for any nursing home anywhere.

Me and a few of my coworkers have been disinfecting multiple nursing homes in the last couple weeks. It always starts with one, and then while we are there test results come back for more. The one we were just at, one of the nurses that had been sent home was a confirmed case.

It was a visitor, then some of the residents got together for bingo and cards. Two of our church members are there... Was. One of them passed, unrelated to virus.

Ah, ok. I did read a story where it was passed around from the nurses though. I mean there are nursing homes everywhere and the news is loaded with stories about how the virus got in. It's really sad.

BTW, If anyone in here gets Covid-19, is tested and certified to have it and then recovers, please consider donating plasma to the Red Cross. It's called the Convalescent Plasma Program, and your plasma now has antibodies that might be able to save someone on the edge of their life. It's a brand new program.

That is an awesome suggestion @Zaph42! Thanks!
So far I have not contracted the virus but they say there is a shortage of blood so I am going to donate today.

Was looking at some NY numbers the other day out of curiosity as they are getting much of the attention right now.

NYC has a population of over 8 million people
Around 27,000 people per square mile
As of the other day they had just under 70,000 confirmed cases and just over 130,000 state wide.

a little over 4000 deaths reported state wide

My entire state has a population of close to 13 million

My rural county in PA has a population of just over 70k and 74 people per square mile.

What does this mean... hell if i know but i don't expect this virus to have a big effect on where i live. People still crazy as **** though.

If you guys want to "track the curves", one of the better sites I found for this was the Financial Times. It used to be Pay Only and behind a pay wall, but I think recently they made it free for public use. The site uses data from Johns Hopkins University, but charts it and plots it in a way that really helps to show trends.

https://www.ft.com/coronavirus-latest

Other sites I use are the Department of Health Services. I believe there's one for every state. Here's the one I look at for Wisconsin.

Mapped data to show state hotspots
https://www.dhs.wisconsin.gov/covid-19/map.htm

Overall data for showing age, hospitalizations, total confirmed cases and deaths.
https://www.dhs.wisconsin.gov/covid-19/data.htm

I’m off now for the Easter Weekend but due to stay at home order I believe it’s going to be a bit boring. I would like to say that I am not complaining. I am very grateful that these measures have kept me safe from the virus.

Spring has hit the northwest! Beautiful weather, the Olympic mountains are out in all their glory. I self isolated this morning by cleaning pine needles off a triplex roof in Burien. Prettywife and I painted some beehive boxes (Prettydaughter #2 is bringing 2 new hive nucs over Saturday morning).

One of the COVID queens down the block is hosting an outdoor social isolation gathering this afternoon (BYOB, chair, and mask)... Prettywife and I will go, but maintain safe distances from our neighbors.

Remain healthy, Ninjetteers!

Funny. I've got a beard now, haven't shaved since I started working from home 3 weeks ago. I also make sure I start my truck once a week otherwise it doesn't run at all. But the last time I filled up the tank gas only cost me $1.15 a gallon.

I too have gone with the scruffy look and I need a haircut. I recently filled up and for the first time in a long time I splurged and got premium gas.

Does anyone know if this article has any basis in truth? I've seen in posted on my facebook newfeed now more than once. It seems outrageously high, but as with all things, if it's true, the truth likely lies somewhere in the middle between what this article claims and what China reported.

Hogwash! If that many really died, there would be billions infected and entire World would be overrun. I was in Hong Kong in Jan and there was no hysteria and panic to escape if that was really the case. We just got free face-masks everywhere we went.

Truth is probaby closer to double what China is claiming.

Scary article about nursing homes. In this article they attribute the majority of infections to asymptomatic infected health care workers.

Only way to avoid it in both, nursing homes and prisons is to have employees stay at the facility. Or, they cannot interact with anyone else anywhere... But it is Not feasible.

i am still working, but no overtime. so i had time to finish my 1946 tractor. took it for a spin Sunday for about 1 1/2 hours, not quite ten miles. took a half pint of whiskey and some water and cruised. still some kinks to iron out, but she runs pretty good. likes to cruise about 7-9 mph. i love the flat-head sound.

From my experience in some of these facilities in the last month and a half, it may start there, but that's not the reason for the bulk of the cases. Not isolating sick residents is the cause. Keeping them with roomates, keeping them in private rooms but leaving the door open and letting them out into the community areas near other residents, not practicing proper precautions and ppe when dealing with sick residents (not wearing gloves, gowns, etc when boxes of them are by every room). Most facilities are not like this, but some are, and the ones that are like that are getting hit hard.

So, will there be any new 2021 model vehicles? Normally they are in production now.

Good question. Any of the 2021s, even brand new model years, have been designed years ago, with preparations for production locked in for a huge lead time. I think it just comes down to when the plants are able to get moving again, and wouldn't expect that to be delayed to such an extent an entire model year is skipped. Hopefully not, at least!

Could be like the 1964.5 model mustang. Rare and worth a ton in the far future.

Here in Ohio, the stimulus checks appear to have had an unintended effect. the first round hit bank accounts, and instead of paying their bills, people have swamped any retail store that's open. Passing by a Walmart parking lot on the way back from a job site the past few days has shown this. It's not about food either, grocery stores are at normal "stay at home" levels. So, now you have stores swamped with people. No way to do proper social distancing in that case.
