Removing passenger pegs - a concern.
I was considering removing my rear passenger pegs....
Considering, but there are two concerns I have (one little, one painful). The first is I would loose my mounting point for my saddle bags. That, I think, would be easily worked out though. The second, and biggest concern, is fear that the increased exposure on the left COULD make it easier to get a leg/foot in the spokes or chain in the unfortunate event of a crash. Does it sound reasonable to be concerned about this, or does that not ever happen in a crash? |

I personally don't believe it would make a difference, but I also haven't seen any of my bikes for a good (bad) month or so.
I won't say impossible, but I think it's highly unlikely you'll get your leg/foot caught in the chain, with or without passenger pegs. If you'd feel unsafe without them, keep them on. |

Now that you thought of it, it's guaranteed to happen. See what you did there? In addition to keeping the passenger peg, I'd mount up a sheet of chicken wire on that entire side of the bike to keep out any foreign (or domestic) objects like feet.

I was thinking something more along the lines of thick sheets of plexiglass.

i would be more worried about the fact that the rear pegs protect the tail plastics in a crash, they get scraped instead of your paint. if you dont need them off then why remove them?
