[motorcycle.com] - KTM Teases Updated Duke for EICMA

KTM has launched a microsite teasing a redesigned Duke for EICMA. The site, KTMDukes.com, created in September, shows a 34-second video and the phrase “How Duke are you?” with the promise of more information on Nov. 8, the first press day of EICMA.

The video starts with a man running as if being chased, before fading to a shot of a new headlight design set to the sound of a roaring engine:



The the split headlight design resembles the one shown on a prototype Super Duke spied testing earlier in the spring. A similar headlight was seen in spy photos found elsewhere on the internet of a revised 390 Duke. The new split face design (which includes a ring of LEDs as daytime running lights for Euro 4 requirements) will likely be shared across the entire Duke line from the SDR down to the 390 Duke (and the smaller capacity versions sold in other markets).

We also expect KTM to introduce a new Twin-cylinder Duke displacing about 800cc which could replace the 690 Duke. Spy photos of this Twin (890 Duke?) from February showed the old 690’s headlight, but the lack of overall bodywork suggest it was an early prototype* that may have been undergoing testing before the new headlight design was finalized.

KTM also posted a couple of images to its Instagram page showing what looks like a boxer wrapping his hands in orange tape, an apt metaphor for KTM’s upcoming streetfighters.
