Question about tire sizes!

My 100/80/16 is nearly bald and I am buying a new front tire for my 250. If I bought a 130/80/16 would that fit on the rim or would the 130 be too big? Would any size as long as the 80/16 fit?

I don't even think that'll fit between your forks, and definitely not inside the front fender. The most common size to replace the stock tire with is 100/90-16, it's slightly larger in diameter which makes the speedo slightly more accurate in many cases. The 130 size is typically found in the rear, and again most people go with a 90-series which is slightly larger in diameter. Both sizes, 100/90-16 and 130/90-16, are much easier to find in a variety of tire models and brands than the stock 80-series tires are.

The metric designation:

"The 130 designates the tire's width in millimeters, measured in a straight line through the tire from one edge of the tire's tread to the other. The second number, 90, is a bit trickier to understand. This represents the aspect ratio between the tire's width and its height, or how tall a tire is in relationship to its width. Simply put, the higher this number is, the taller the tire will be. In this case, the tire is 90 percent as tall as its width, or 117mm.

The last number, 16, is the tire's rim diameter expressed in inches."

The geometry of the bike would also change, increasing rake and trial and messing the steering balance.

Some people have been able to fit a 120/80/16 but I would not recommend it it's not a good idea steering wise, to go with a wider front tire.
