Red is my favorite color. All red vehicles are not my thing but black and red can't be beat.

Nice ride! Love the paint job! (Just 'cause I'm nitpicky about this sort of stuff, don't forget to update your owned motorcycles spot on your little info thing. Still only shows the 250! )

nice bike, but I think it looks kinda mad, maybe because I am not its owner =)
I always had an infatuation with cbrs. will be my next bike in a couple of years or so. (I hope) |

I was interested in the 6R and CBR. Kawasaki said NO to me. So that made it an easy choice to pick the CBR. Honda needed some elbow ribbing to get them to cough up the loan but I got it eventually.
It would have been easier and lower interest if I had a cosigner but I was determined to do this on my own. I got it for 9799 OTD which is MSRP. Not the best deal but far from the worst too. |

^^ nice - I had the opposite experience (got approved for any bike in the store) but they would not budge on the price of the cbr (wanted 11,000 OTD) and came down a bit on the 6R (9500 OTD)

If it didn't cost twice as much to buy, with higher insurance, and increased chance of going to jail for exceeding the speed limit by 100 mph... that's the bike I'd get too. That's nice.

The bike is a great pleasure to ride so far. Smooth as silk. At cruising speed/RPM, the vibration is almost gone. Well at least compared to my 250. Guess that's the difference between a 4cyl and a twin. I know some people hate to have stock exhausts but I'm really enjoying the way the bike hums as is. We'll see how I feel about that later on but any mods are on the bottom of the priority list right now. The engine and exhaust howl is so refined and sweet sounding. unlike the 250 which is kinda rough and abrasive if you know what I mean.
The bike gets up and goes effortlessly. I know the 09 is down on power to the other bikes and the 07-08 CBR but what do I care coming from a 250? It's still much more power everywhere. And the engine is so silky smooth like the entire crank and rods assembly are rolling on ball bearings. Transmission is smooth too. I thought it would be harsher since it's a much more powerful bike but the transmission on my 250 is noticeably notchier than this. Not necessarily a bad thing. Sometimes I'm not even sure I shifted up a gear because the gears are so close and the transmission is so smooth. If you get the clutch/throttle work just right, you don't even feel the gear change. I have to get used to rev matching while braking with much less input on the throttle. All it takes is a little twitch and the engine jumps. I have to really yank on the 250 grip to get it to rev match quickly. I was a little timid with downshifting because I know the bike doesn't have a slipper clutch but I'm mostly over that so far with slipping the lever and blipping. Shouldn't be a problem once I build up more muscle memory. Need to build up some stamina in my clutch hand too. Oh, and FI is nice. Bike is already ready to go by the time I finish gearing up and finding a song on my ipod. Haven't taken it to any roads with respectable twisties to judge its turning manners yet but no rush. Still trying to build up more skill into automatic muscle memory. I'm sure I'll enjoy the bike a lot more once I put it in the environment it was intended for. I just appreciate both bikes so much after sampling the other side of the spectrum from the bare bones 250 to the leading edge CBR. I don't know about older supersports but this bike is just so nice and refined it's like an extreme privilege to be able to own something with so much tech and refinement in it for a "nominal" 10k. This kind of fit and finish and performance in a car would cost tens of thousands, possibly hundreds of thousands. It's also nice to feel the pride and be apart of something bigger like the Honda domination of the World Supersport championship. |

I rode a couple onramps today to get a feel for my body positioning while turning. I appreciate the higher rearsets and lower clipons so much. It's such a chore to get your weight low on the 250. I know sometimes on the 250, if I try to get my upper body any lower, I'd be eating my knuckles! But doing that on the CBR feels really natural. Then it zips ahead so quick. I think I'm in love. |
